lads and lassie's...hows it going? I'm looking for your input on waterproofs. Got any recommendations? I was looking at Galvin Green as i want a GoreTex suit...it gets pretty wet here in Muckhart. Are there any other manufacturers which use GoreTex?
Whats your experiences
Cheers
HB

Recently bought a Galvin suit as was totally fed up with my old cheap one (kept the rain out but had a certain "boil-in-the-bag" quality...)

The new Galvin suit was worth every penny. Great quality, light, waterproof AND breathable! And it looks cool as f......

I use proquip silktouch and they do the job for me. That said we don't get the conditions you get up there. I thought there was a thread on here recently where several forum members had had trouble with GG suits

Hi there,
Ive just bought my first set of GG'S and they cost a bomb but i wish i had shelled out for them in the first place because they are absolutley amazing. I had some Sunderland ones before and they were really nice but after 9 or 10 times in the rain they started to leak. I have played in the foulest of weathers in my new wet gear and its never let a drip in. go for it, im sure you wont be dissapointed

I'm Galvin Green man have had them for 3 years now and never had any problem always kept me dry, but i know thecraw had a bad experience the other week with a brand new set in which he soaked, might have been a bad batch ?.

Nice course by the way we had Forum Meet there in June.

Ive got a Cypress Point waterproof suit and it keeps you dry and are very light. The jacket isnt great(while swinging) but the trousers are brilliant. I rarely wear waterproofs but when i do they do the job and i got giving them by my pro for nothing so even better.

Ref the OP
Callaway do a Gore-tex set as do Sunderland I believe. Can't say if either are any good but I know they exist.
You've really got to take into account how often you're going to play in the rain - if its no more than a handful of times per year then a set of cheaper Proquips/Stubert/etc etc will suffice. IMO if you're playing enough golf in the pouring rain to warrant spending a fortune of Galvins then you've got too much time on your hands!! :p :p :p :p

I used Stuburt at first and never let a drop of rain in, the only fault with them was the zips went but for a suit worth £85 they where decent and looks cool. I now use Sunderland Pro II trousers, on the odd occasion I play in the rain I still use the Stuburt jacket but prefer short sleved windshirts and get wet than be restricted on my swing.

I bough HID the berghaus suit (not Goretex) for about £150, worth the cash as they are very good, they do some good Paclite aswell. I just couldnt justify spending over £300+ on GG waterproofs, I find they so over priced for what they are.

Sunice for me. Look good and performance is better than any I've had before. I've had a pair of trousers about 4 years, still totally waterproof even in driving rain. Breathable and comfortable too. They were about £75 new and I just don't see how GG can be better value. That said I don't know anyone who's got them that doesn't say they are brilliant and worth every penny. Down to budget really like most things.

.....I've said it before..and I'll say it again.....GG's are the best value for money over a few seasons. You will not get wet.

I have a pair of goretex nike storm fit trousers, they are fantastic - small problem when it's really hammering down the water tends to gon into the pockets and then gets you wet.
I have a hiking jacket that's goretex incl hood and it's fantastic.

The goretex manfacturing system seems to be great. All the manufacturers use this base with their style so a 150 and 400 quid bitnof goretex is pretty much the same.

I do however know of several (~6) sets of gg's getting returned due to leeks.

I love the paclite stuff bit is us easily torn, I choose nit to look for thr ones in the thorny areas to stop the rips.

Sorry if the England's poor I am on my phone and it's predictive goes mad sometimes.
