I use a Ping Pioneer LC golf bag which was shown up by today's grim weather. Is there any way of waterproofing nylon effectively, i.e. through application of nikwax or something similar?

Or just buy a dri bag for about £6 from eBay which covers the whole of your caet bag.

There is no such thing as a waterproof golf bag. Taking a club out lets water in, after hitting a shot and sticking the club back in lets more rain in, add in the rain which runs down the shaft of the club onto your grips.

Just buy a pair of McWets and don't carry valuables in your bag unless they're in a dry bag.

I've got a waterproof bag and you're right, they won't keep clubs and grips dry.

That isn't why I bought it though. At the end of the round now I only have to dry my clubs, not everything else that's in the pockets.

Got the Motocaddy dri series and it's a god send . The grips dont get dripping wet , quick wipe with a towel after use and before keeps them in good order. Everything in pockets is bone dry and lets face it , it had a good try out today .

I've read on and think I'll end up with the Stewart Golf rain cover. It gets superb reviews and the zip system seems very well thought-out, as one would expect from Stewart.

I'm with you on this. I've tried waterproof covers but something always gets in, the bags still ends up wet SOMEWHERE and that transfers to the clubs, no matter how hard I try to keep it dry. I'm going to get me one of those sprays!

Or just never play in the rain again, that'll be cheapest...

Won't it be the zips that let the water in. If they aren't waterproof the water will seep through the material joining the zip to the bag.

I agree, my H2NO is totally waterproof and keeps everything in the pockets 100% dry in atrocious weather, yes the grips & clubs can get a bit wet taking them in & out from under the hood but nothing to the degree of a bag that gets saturated.
