I wear Benross waterproof trousers, not a drop got through them when we were all down in Kent and they were tested to the extreme.

What I also love about them is, they have belt loops, a fly zip and a long zip at the base of the trousers leg which aids getting them on & off quick.

Yup to this, as soon as you put a brand new sub £100 pair on they are second hand. Have a look for GG stuff. But I would invest in a nice bottle of nik wax which ever pair you buy to wash them in.

They're a good cut, lightweight and don't make that awful waterproof noise when you walk!

Another vote for Stromberg Wintra trousers. Really good fit and dry as a bone after playing in heavy rain for 2 hours. Only one problem I've had is when air gets trapped in the lower leg and I crouch lining up a putt they can "fart"

Are any of these recommendations for actual trousers rather than over trousers?

I prefer to wear one pair but most seem to be for wearing over normal trousers. Have a pair of Mizuno Impermalite's but have lost a bit of weight and they are a bit big now so am in the market for a new pair ideally in this price range!

The Stromberg wintra trousers are actual trousers.

you can also get decent waterproof trousers made by craghoppers that are made for hiking but fine for golf. The sell them in places like Go Outdoors.
