Hey folks

Having caught the start of the heavy rain finishing my round today and watched it rain pretty much non-stop since I think I will invest in some waterproofs.

I have some nice outdoorsy waterproofs but as I use them for walking the dog etc etc I think I would like to get a 'golf specific' set to keep in my bag.

Just wondered what else folk are using and any that people think highly of or maybe even more any that folk would avoid!

Thanks in advance!

Anything from Galvin Green

Expensive yes but does the trick

Another vote for Galvin Green. Best waterproofs I've ever owned. At £400 odd though, they weren't cheap!

For a cheaper set, the Nike Stormfit range were superb for the money.

There have been numerous threads on here re waterpoofs, so try a search.

Thanks guys. I've read a few of the older threads on waterproofs. Seems to be loads recommending the GG but I do not think I can stretch to that right now unfortunately unless i find a good deal on XL's, especially as I am looking for both top and bottoms.

Pro Quip Tour Flex 360 suit can be had for less than a lot of the GG tops alone so I'm looking at more that sort of thing. Although all the positive contributions on GG are making them hard to ignore....

Ive got a set of Ping hydroproof trousers and 1/2 sleeve top their fantastic if im honest. 2 Year guarantee and got them for 100 after making AG price match the internet.

If you are an xl in other waterproofs, you may be xxl in GGs, but watch the sleeve length (it will be longer). GGs tend to be snug around the middle.

I posed the same question about six months ago and received similar replies. I went with the GG top and bottom and they are worth every penny. I have had other breathable waterproofs, but none have worked as well as the GGs. In the heaviest of rain, I remain bone dry, from both rain and condensation. I previously returned a pair of Ping Hydro trousers to Amazon, as they left me soaking the first time I wore them in heavy rain.

GG are the best but pro quip are a very decent alternative especially at half the price.

GG are the best, but I bought a Sunice suit from Justgolfonline for about £150, it's Gortex and kept out yesterday's deluge perfectly well

I've owned a set of Mizuno impermalite waterproofs for the past 4 or 5 years and they are still keeping the water at bay. Couldn't recommend them high enough to be honest.

I have had FJ dry joys for about 4 years, never ever let me down, the trousers are quite fitted so I never use them as over trousers, but with a zipper and belt loops they look fine.

Thanks for the input everyone. Was set on the Gavin Green stuff going to bed last night but hearing the positive views for others that can be had much cheaper I am having a rethink!

Proquip tourflex 360 are excellent. Were recommended by the club pro who wears them all the, including when out teaching.

Sunderland of Scotland for me. I had a Proquip suit which was good but When I retired it I bought Sunderland. I think it's superior to the Proquip and cost about £140 for the suit.

I've got the proquip tourflex 360 trousers (got them new on Amazon for £27! Couldn't believe my luck!) - they're excellent. I'm going to by the jacket this winter too.
