I played at Warrington today with Liverbirdie, apart from being on 2 temporary greens, the course was in great nick, the greens were a little of the soft side but the fairways were pretty firm, cant comment on the rough as we managed to stay out of anything more than the first cut.
Having given LB some stick for his performance at Bolton, its only fair to say he played lovely today, he finished just one over gross. Mind you on most holes his tees were in front of the reds. LB beat me 5&4 despite me playing pretty decently for. 34 points

Glad you enjoyed our course Louise.
Which 2 greens were "temps"?
We have a new greenkeeper who has new ideas obviously but some of us remember we have not had temps in the past 10 years .
We have a well draining course and locally are known to always be on the greens.
Hope "new"does not mean over protection!

11th and 17th, the girl in the shop said it was because they are shaded by the trees and so don't dry out as quick as the others.

It didn't.

Sorry, better half had altered my thread settings.
Can understand 17th possibly but not 11th.
I always think the views from our course take some beating, but I notice things like that a lot lately, it takes my mind off my poor golf.

An absolute pleasure to play your course today.

No mud, no standing water, greens were true, even though a big heavy lump like me was leaving spongy footprints all over them.

Thats the second time I've played Warrington, and enjoyed it both times. It gives you a chance, but also keeps you on your toes.

I was level par with only 140 yards to go to the "tempting temp" par 5 on 17, but for the second time on that hole, I managed to find the chasm/pond. A birdie on that would have put me -1, so had to go for it. Finished 1 over gross, and was pretty pleased with myself.

Louise played some good stuff also, for a creditable 34 points. It must be said though that a misogynist must have put the tee markers out today with, I would guess, 14 of the 18 holes being the same for the reds and yellows, or the women's being further back.

Will head back there again.

Glad you enjoyed it Liverbirdie, always nice to get a good report of your home club.
The ladies course does throw up a few anomalies, it is to do with their SSS l believe.
As compensation they do play off the grass tees unlike us men, who are now off mats.
That is not a moan , it is just because they have fewer than 60 players in their comps whereas the men have nearly double that number in coms.
Best wishes and may you soon return to Warrington.
