Hi all

Just wondering about warm up routines

Does anyone know how many balls a pro would hit before a round on average?

Also how many balls do you hit before a round?

thanks

On an ideal day (meaning I really make it to the course about an hour before my tee time, which does not always happen), I spend about 15 min on the putting green, do a quick 3 - 5 minute stretch, 15 min in the short game area and a small basket (24 balls) on the range, going through my set, starting with half swings with PW or 9 iron and then slowly working my way upwards to longer shots. I normally end up hitting driver last, because that is the club I use on the first hole (when I play at home). That leaves me about ten minutes to use the loo and get to the first tee without having to rush.

Pro wise i suppose it depends on the player, some may only need a few balls others might hit a fair few.

Me... none, 2 or 3 straight putts on the practice green and a bit of a stretch and away i go.

About 5 putts on the putting green on the odd occasion. 2 minute stretch on the 1st tee whilst the group in front clears and away I go. Looks a lot more professional than it sounds I promise.. :D

If I ever arrive at a sensible time I will hit 30 or so shots on the range and chip/putt for 15 mins. Very rarely is the case and I'll show up on the first with a petrol station meal deal in hand as my warm up.

Pros will use around about an hour and spend a lot more time putting so it will work out to just over an hour imo
