Warm up for a round

Seems quite good I've got some hip issues and should do more stretching so think this could be useful... think I'd rather do this in house before I get to the club though before I get slaughtered haha

Actually, you need to be careful when stretching. What it does is it takes tension out of your muscles, which can have two kinds of negative effects:

- by reducing the tension in the supporting muscles of your body, you actually increase the risk of injuries in your joints, since you lose some stablity normaly provided by those muscles
- for sports like golf, where you need to accelerate fast you need tension in your muscles, otherwise you will lose power

So before a round you should make sure you literally "warm up" your muscles (like when starting a motor on a cold day) . To achieve this you should do some exercises that include the muscles you are goint to need most when playing.

If you e.g. have hip issues, you could start with slow hip/upper body rotations. If you can't think of any exercises you can always make (easy) practice swings. Grab a (light) club and start with half swings at 50% speed, and slowly work up from there until you reach your norma radius and speed.

Save the stretching until after the round, then it can help relax the muscles from the stress during play.

PS: doing the warm up at home doesn't work, since your muscles will be cold again once you reach the course.
