Wanted: Forum moderators

Morning all

we have finally worked out how to give moderator status to forum users so I'm inviting applications from respected members of the forum. I'm looking to fill 4 spots

You will have the authority to suspend threads from spammers or containing inappropriate posts and even ban users if they're a total pain in the behind.

(TonyN are you still up for it as I know you PM'd me ages ago on this?)

The position is unpaid but the kudos is, naturally, immense!

Who knows, I may even send you a dozen balls once a year.

I don't think that should come into it ( apart from someone just joining us)

Numbers mean nothing. You may only post once a day but you may still have the respect of the forum.

I have had three in already - all from regulars who you'll all know and trust. TonyN has first refusal on the last one.

There was a time when I would have jumped at a moderators position, but not sure these days I'd be that bothered, even if I would do something like that if asked.

Good move Mike - I may have to behave now....if you are going down this route, it is only fair that posters/forum members understand what is acceptable and what it not, so perhaps a 'Code of Conduct' should be published/drawn up so at least you know where the boundaries are and what you are going to get bannes/suspended for.....as a starter for 10 here are my thoughts:


Post new topics in the correct forum - not too tough as we have so few forums but still...

Do not start duplicate threads - do a search before you post - this is the biggest problem with this forum, I mean how many Goswick threads did we have in the end...

Shouting (messages in block capitals) and txt spk is not permitted - yeah talk proper like what I do....

No personal abuse of other Griffin Park Grapevine members is not permitted. If you disagree with what someone else says, say so and use whatever arguments you like to support your views. However personal attacks only suggest that you cannot support your views in any other way and are not allowed. Do not revenge like with like.

The laws of libel in the UK are very harsh. You are liable for what you post. Please do not expose the board to legal risk - Mike this may be something for you to think about....

Duplicate registrations are not allowed. You must use the same user name whenever you post a message - any transgressors on this...

Do not post material that infringes on any intellectual property rights (e.g. copyright, trademark, patent or other proprietary rights) - this is another thing that may cause a problem to the wrong person/group....

Advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are not permitted - except for sandwich bars....

Content of posts that have been deleted must not be re-submitted.

In order to avoid the impression of cliques, please always refer to other users by their username and NOT their real name (or any other moniker) - this is one of my biggest bugs on here....

Infringements of this Code of Conduct may result in your posting rights being suspended or withdrawn....

Kinda glad I was out on the golf course when this came up. I did volunteer for it last summer after the 'Benny' incident. But not now. I already spend too much time on here as it is.
