VW diesel scrappage scheme.

Anyone on here know anything about it.

Young daughter tash is looking at getting a new scirocco, looked on VW site yesterday and was sure it was about just south of £24K ( 2 ltr white GT) with 6 or 7 K allowance for a dodgy diesel in px.
She went to the local VW dealer who told her there were no 2ltr diesels in the country but they could do her a nice deal on a 1.4 they just happened to have on the forecourt. She told um not interested.
Now I have been in and out of conversations with her re this coz am up to the man boobs in decorating. Anyway I went online through VW which ended up with Notts VW contacting me. Suffice to say they can get a 2 ltr white scirocco GT here soon as, so ave not got a clue what's going on re " none in the country", but he went onto to say yup we can give you 5k for her car and the Scirocco is £25,775.
Now me heads spinning a bit coz has the VW scrappage changed since yesterday and has the price of the cars.
Normally when am dealing with owt like this ave pen and paper ready but am sure from yesterday to today there's a
3 K " numbers playing" hike somewhere. So has the scrappage changed and what is the official price of said car.

Yeah the car she has at the mo is a Honda Civic 2.2 sure it's a year older than the required minimum age. It's just the two differant VW dealers giving her differant prices that has stumped me a bit.

The first dealer could have meant none in the country that they have access to, it happens when there are multiple different franchises working with the same overall dealer.

Tbh if the scrappage page scheme is off full retail she's better off selling her car to we buy and car and buying through coast to coast cars. I just had a quick look and a 2.0 petrol in GT spec (180bhp) is £19600 instead of £26k. They come from UK dealers and can do finance etc. The scrappage scheme seems to be a way to make it look like they are offering a lot for the car, but they are getting it back in other ways

Other than that if she fancies a BMW M140i Shadow Edition I could get her a ridiculous deal

The site is great, they just put you in touch with a dealer that would do the deal. A lot of people will go and pay full retail thinking they got a good deal on the car because the dealer offered them more for their car etc. Dealers are prepared to offer a lot more than people realise.

The BMW would be 1k down and £332 a month if she wanted something like that. Mpg isn't great for short distances but good on long. I was getting 45mpg on trips to Manchester in my 235i with the same engine.

yeah no worries mate. The dealer it's from is a really good bloke and doesn't try and sell any of the stupid extras too. He openly said gap through a dealer is a waste and you should get it from a company that does it for £120 and the paint protection is never put on properly by a dealer, you're better off getting it done by a specialist for half the cost
