Anyone took part in these type of trials.?
I've volunteered with Trials4us through Richmond Pharmacology for Ischaemic heart disease which I have.
Seemingly i will get a full medical , before trial starts and can call off anytime and be paid for my time.
Thoughts please Guys

Don't get any bright ideas about donating your body to science, science has enough trouble as it is!! 🤣🤣

You're right, I've pretty much worn out most parts, sadly some not as much as i would've liked.:ROFLMAO: . I'm on the organ donor list, already gave away my bass guitar though :D

Used to be able to do it at my old employer, didn't do it myself but know plenty who did.
You get well looked after as its investigational but there'e always a risk as they tend not to know what long term effects are. Are i assume its phase 1 trials ?

By dad got on drug trails via the NHS for arthritis(20ish years ago), as he got arthritis quite bad by about 50. He got offered the trail drugs due to his age, aggressive nature of his arthritis and none of the normal drugs at the time working. It worked for him for years(well, certainly allowed him to live a better quality of life for 15-20 years iirc).

He would have been dead without those drugs within 3-5 years and in constant pain/fatigue/deformation etc. They did have side efforts over the longer term and his heart attack was kind of blamed on the drugs, so he swapped to a more modern version.

In those kind of circumstances I would go for it, failing that I would not take the risk (sorry do not know anything about your condition or the side effects of the drugs you will trial, so not totally sure how relevant).

My dad took part in the Warfin [blood thinning] drug trials in the early 1960's after a serious heart attack aged 45.
He held a pretty stressful job until his belated retirement aged 67...…...passed away in 1992. aged 73.

Be very careful. Unless you can get info on the drug they are pumping into you and what it is supposed to do and what things it MAY do. I'd avoid. I use to work for a major pharma company and one of our lads used to take part in their trials, but only on ones that he'd checked out with the doctors who had worked on it and made sure they weren't going to damage any thing he might need.
