You may well have to order one specially. 64° is a bit too much for most people to handle I would have thought.

I can't find one on any of the usual sites I use. You could try phoning your local American Golf as they do a collect in store service now where you can order from the site and collect in person.

They'll be able to order the club if its in stock at any of their stores nationwide.

Golf is becoming way to controlled now, clubs are being banned and limits are being tightened. I don't see why officials can't just accept that todays players are so good. OK I do accept that there does need to be some restrictions such as driver size and grooves etc, but limiting degrees is a step to far, just make the courses longer :D

JuniorCaptain,

There was a time, not long ago, when the world class golfers were really skillful golfers. It wasn't about knocking it out 300yds off the tee and slashing a wedge out the rough and sticking it to 10'

In those days the top players could get the club to make the ball dance to their tune. Seve was obviously The Master at this but there were several others who could be just as mercurial with a wedge and that's what seperated the top players from the rest of the pack.

Limiting wedges to say, 56deg would bring a lot of skill back into the game around the green. There would be a bit of difference between the top class players and the others.

Try it sometime, see how you fare playing a variety of shots just using the 56 sandwedge. To be good at this you need to be very skillfull.

I also think courses need to be toughened up. I've been watching some old celebrity pro-ams from the 80's on ESPN and a few reruns of European Events (including the B&H and Langer up a tree). One thing that was noticeable even for the amateurs playing in a made for TV event was how thick the rough was.

The old balls (balata) were a lot easier to shape which is why great ball strikers (Seve, Faldo etc) were at the top for so long as they could move it to avoid trouble and attack pins. However there was less versatility in terms of being able to play shots from juicy rough. In those days if you missed a fairway it did mean a dropped shot unless you could chip an putt. Why not make a lot of these courses (particularly those that most European Opens seem to be played on) more penal. I'm not talking about Carnoustie and the way it was set up for the Open which was overkill and unplayable but thick 3 and 4 inch rough that balls settle down in (think US Open rough). That would sort the modern shot makers out

Making courses longer can never be the answer - how far do you take it? Make the course tougher - narrower fairways, better rough, better hazards.

I don't think anyone will mind if a player reduces a par5 to a drive and a 9 iron if he's hit the fairway with the drive. To hit over 250 yards and stay straight is much harder than you think. Just blasting 350 yards into the rough and crashing an iron onto the green takes little skill. The Bombers don't care if they're in the rough, they know their Zip/MD etc wedges will get them on the green.

Its about time that a hazard became a hazard again. Force the bomber who misses the green by 20 yards to hack out sideways. Make the bunkers cost them a shot.

My sentiments exactly. I think courses for amateurs should stay as they are though :D I don't like bunkers at the moment. ;)

I have just received my 64 degree Vokey wedge and it's a bunch of fun. I wanted something I could use in the desert that would allow me to throw the ball up unlike anything I had ever seen before... You can go to the following link: http://www.titleist.co.uk/gb_locator.aspx?bhcp=1 and pop in your post code and it will give you a list of all the Titleist retailers in your area. Any of them will be able to order the 64 for you no problem. Let me know how you get on. You can see my set make-up on: http://sebastianheijdenberg.com/equipment.html

Good Luck!!
