Interested to know if anyone uses visulisation in their game. If so what do you visualise, or do you just visualise a few pints after and a bacon sandwich?

I see too many people visualising on the Course - I call it having a Golfing Experience. Others call it Slow Play

Just hit it!

What's to visualise? Walk up to the ball, see how far from 150 yard marker, pick club that you think and bosh it one, How hard can it be?. Then keep up with group in front and repeat process till 18 holes are complete.

I agree , I do the same , if I'm driving I try to picture the shape of shot and the half of the fairway I'm aiming at, this is something else I try to do eliminate parts of the course that have danger, if it's iron play I try to picture the high draw from a point of reference like a bunker or tree , short game not really just try to pick a spot to land it on , putting don't ask I'm crap at that

Edit- I don't think this is about slow play FFS , you can do this as your walking up to the ball / tee :ears:

Yeah ive done it for hazards. Also picture my swing before starting shots as well. I sometimes find if i visualise a straight shot and try to ignore the hazard,my shots go too far the other way.

Jack Nicklaus said he like to visualise the shot he was about to make. He would imagine the ball flying to the target and then an image of himself making the swing to achieve the shot.

If it's good enough for jack .....!

I could not visialise my swing, it has to be target driven... If you visualize the swing you are getting to internal!

I suppose that separates good players from ordinary players. Jack Nicklaus never played a shot without seeing the flight and landing of the ball, and that's also when he practised. The pros learn this and they do it for a reason, so why can't amateurs learn and try it.

Totally agree with you.
All this get to the ball and just hit it is bull.

I try to visualise the shot while my PP is playing his shot & sometimes when I'm over the ball, I think it just helps me to relax a touch.
I find it particularly helpful when putting, more for the pace than the line.
It may slow me down a bit, and I'm a slow player anyway, but if it means I take a couple of shots fewer, I've just made the time back ............ with interest!
If you think it'll help, try it.

Slime.

It takes seconds to visualise a shot and everyone does it, otherwise how do you know what club to play??

i think some people are getting this mixed up with the guys who take a million practice swings and then stand there over the ball wiggling everything. That definitely is one of the causes of slow play.

What do you class as visualisation? If you assess that you want to aim towards the left bunker to account for the wind, or play a low runner because you're in the trees then I'd argue that's visualising the shot.

To be honest with you, I'm not even really sure what visualisation is in golf terms. I've always assumed it was as per SocketRocket's post about Jack visualising the flight of the ball which isn't something I ever do, not consciously anyway. I would probably say visualisation comes after assessment. I tend to stop with assessment.
