Will be visiting in Sept and playing.

Glasgow Gailes, Lochgreen and Belleisle. Any of you Guys played these, have been on the websites but there is nothing like a bit of personal insight.

I've not played any if them but I was in Scotland about 3 weeks ago with 15 of my friends. We played Linden Hall on the way up which is in Northumberland, then the 3 courses at Carnoustie, then we played 2 rounds at Arbroath and finished with a round at Silloth near Carlisle. It was a fantastic 6 days which only cost us £300 each for the golf & accomodation at the Hilton Hotel in Dundee!!

Have played Lochgreen a couple of years ago. Was in fantatsic nick and a badrgain price as was able to play all the munis around Troon for less than 90 quid for a week. Was so proud that went and blew it all on a game at Royal Troon!!

Lochgreen is crap at the moment. Greens are atrocious and the overall condition very poor. Typical of local councils, they cut back and cut back the investment until the end product suffers. They used to be good, not any more.

Bellisle is a decent enough course, lovely layout and used to be in tip top condition. I have'nt played it in about 10 years though.

Glasgow Gailes is a beauty, you will love it.

Have a look into Irvine Bogside, an Open Qualifier and the best greens I putted on all last year, good layout but keep the ball on the fairway at all costs.

West Kilbride, just down the road from Irvine is a classic out and in links which is a good challenge and has wonderful views of the Isle of Arran.

Brunston Castle near Girvan is a nice inland course but a bit further away as is Largs Golf Club which is also a super track.

Ayrshire is your oyster in terms of golf, good luck.

Thanks Guys
For the info and tips about other courses but it's an annual tour which has been booked already.

Just got back from Ayrshire - and from thecraw's post he must have been following me around.
West Kilbride - excellent
Irvine Bogside - brilliant

But of the courses you're playing only did Belleisle. Its in good nick at moment but fairways and first cut are very generous. Even I couldn't lose many balls. Due to vast space, I'd say an Ok to Good track but not higher. If Glasgow Gailes is as good as the other links in the area then you should enjoy it.
