I switched to Virgin recently and got a shock with the cost of International & Mobile calls compared with my old BT service.
Virgin advertise £2 Talk add-on's that reduce the call rates but not by a lot.
However I discovered that they also offer £5 and £10 Talk add-ons that have a much bigger impact. They obviously don't want people to take them out as there is absolutely no mention of them on the website and the call centre are reluctant to activate them but as they are on the attached just stand your ground.
