Vince Cable

Interesting. Bob Crow is no shrinking violet and there are already strikes on the tube with more threatened. Making him out to be a fall guy will only encourage his militant tendencies. Rhetoric or not it was a good speech

"While paying themselves outrageous bonuses underwritten by the taxpayer.

Please advise what this means....

As far as I know, there's only one company owned by the taxpayer - RBS and their staff didn't get any bonuses.

Please advise

Thanks

It was a load of left wing boll***s. More taxes for middle class families and an attack on the City which means an attack on the people who can get us out of this recession.

agreed. and the fact of the matter is that it is every government's wet dream to get even a marginal controlling stake in a bank. When LBG tried to repay the governement and remove themselves from the toxic debt scheme the governemnt refused.

fortunately i work for an investment bank that is under no government shackles and free to make money, pay taxes to support the economy as well as make substantial charitable donations on a monthly basis to the under privegled in local area, no hedging no shorting.

so cable can bang his drum along with the rest of them that wouldnt pass an economics a-level let alone degree and ultimately it is the governemnt that was responsible for regulating the industry.

as for Bob Crow? the mans a joke

Watched him last night on Question Time - most disappointed - he sounded great when he did not have to make decisions but, now in power of a sort, he no longer appears to have the same confident swagger.

A message there for us all perhaps, easy to put the world to rights...unless we have to!!

Cable is a joke in a puppet government, his masters will never allow him to attack the high and upper middle classes, they are too busy handing out corporate tax breaks and increasing vat.

They never change sleaze, soundbites and wealth protection.

Atleast this government wont bankrupt the country like labour.

Labour is all about jobs for the boys, making sure as many people as possible in the labour/unions old-boys clubs get absurdly big salaries in a vastly over-inflated public sector or in the world of pointless quangos.

No the Tories never had any recessions during their terms did they?

As for jobs for the boys? two words......

Bullingdon Club

Agree they have had recessions, usually because of the legacy left by the clowns they took over from.

Agree about your point about jobs for the boys but they are in no way as bad as the trade unions and labour.

My mother-in-law is an NHS manager. What she has noticed is that there are more an more managers and executives for this, directors for that etc who actually seem to do bugger-all apart from swan-around, play golf and one who paid £13k for a desk, yes a desk, on expenses.

Strange that, my wife is a nurse and remembers how bad the NHS was in the 1980s & 1990s.

Jobs for the boys?? How about jobs for the people who ran the national utilities into the ground, then got board jobs in the private sector and then got six figure salaries!!

This is a GLOBAL recession caused by the sub-prime housing market in the US, sorry I forgot Osborne said it wasn't a recession mind you he also would have refused to bail the banks leaving the country bankrupt, but then again we all have small memories.

Lets not mention the sleaze & gaffes which they where kicked out in 1997 for which has already started.

The only way this Brokeback coalition know to take this country out of recession is high unemployment, corporate tax breaks and making the lower middle and working classes pay for bankers reckless money games, since deregulation started in the 90s I don't see anyone else to blame.

world of pointless quangos.

So the NPIA do exactly what the Tories want to introduce in the police force. Most of these people do hard working job they that make a difference, to label people as a quango and think balls to them, they have mortgages, families and bills to pay. Its always the same under the Tories, Bully tactics and spin, point Murdoch to a victim and let the far right take hold of them, never mind these are real people doing their jobs like the rest of us.

I can't wait for the double dip to kick in.

So those from the South are following right wing lines and those from the north are going more left...

WHAT AN UNEXPECTED HAPPENING!

:)

I'm in the East and waiting patiently for the countryside uprising through FART Farmers Against Rates & Taxes :D

What makes me laugh is party political preference being espoused at a time when it is clear both of the major parties have got it fundamentally wrong.

Labour failed to mend the roof whilst the sun shone, which would have put our economy on a stronger footing to deal with the GLOBAL economic meltdown and the Tories are wielding the axe like a crazed psychopathic killer on speed, which looks inevitably like it will lead to a double dip recession. I'm just hoping to hold onto my job or get a more secure one so my family can make it through the inevitably hard times ahead.

Don't be fooled Westminster is rotten to the core with party political oneupmanship taking preference over common sense. :(
