Well now its over whats the views , scotlands abillity to finish a team & score tries cost them top spot in the group , scotland bullied them early doors but fair play to england they kept in the game & did what they had to do, as bad as the french are i dont think theyl be loosing sleep, gona be strange if ireland can win tomorrow, wales v ireland , eng v france & winners meet in semi, great chance for any of the 4 to make the final.. dan carter may miss rest of world cup with grion injury so a chance for a win for all 4 on our side of the group

Heroic failure, as a Scot we're used to the big last minute effort when the damage was done in the previous game. Glad to see them play well with a lot of pride, good late try from England though and Wilko did miss a lot. Good game to watch, was poised nicely for a long time.

I think the difference between the top 7 or 8 sides is smaller than ever, Ireland or England could win this. England started slowly last time and got to the final. I can see them beatng France easily enough. A good tough match like today can only do England good, remind them that being better on paper counts for nothing.

Played some great stuff but an inability to convert chances has cost them dearly the whole tournament. I certainly know England will not win the World Cup, they're not good enough.

Grumps a rather ignorant reply.

i do wish the media woudl work out how the world cup works

driving back from the course this afternoon i heard on TalkSport that England play Tonga in the QFs, to find that apperently even though France and Tonga won/lost the same amount of games, and even though Tonga won the match between the two of them, France go through because they got more bonus points against the other 2 teams, and didnt get beaten by too much against Tonga

Occurs to me this is a travesty and that bonus points shoudl only be used after the result between the individual teams cannot distinguish (ie like would have happened in EngScotArg group had scotland won.

Valiant effort from the Scots, but England were a different team in the second half and the replacements made the difference. Toby Flood has earned the start in front of Wilko. gritty, ugly win against the odds which may help them going forward. 4 down, 3 to go.

Just watched the match, not the best game but tense none the less.
I thought the scots played well and maybe just lack that Ashton,a man
who certainly knows where the try line is.
We should beat the french, they are poor.
I can see a England,Allblack final,and a win for the Blacks

Didn't expect the jocks to boss the scrum like they did in first half.
Wilko looked out of sorts, flood is NOT the answer.
Jockland threw qualification away in a mad five mins vs the argies

I just wish we would play expansive rugby, quick ball when wigglesworth came on helped.

Might be right but...

Carter looks like he has a serious injury, Australia have only 22 fit players now and South Africa are carrying injuries into the QFs.

I think it will be an England v Ireland semi and whoever comes through that will go very very close.

it looks that way but that wasnt the intension as the smiley posted at the top and not after the text .
not liking this new format as its not as clear and easy to see new posts especially on the phone
but with the rugby its just what we are used to really we go into these tournies in hope of doing well while the english go in expecting to

the comentator in the sco/eng game said it was the all blacks waiting next week ???

Exiciting game to watch. Good old fashioned England vs Scotland. Had it been at Murrayfield in the rain the result might have been very different. Usual great heart by the Scots and uncertanty from the English.

I too wish the scoring system for deciding places was easier to work out. Commentator kept implying that if England lost they were going out but I think that would still have depended on how many tries Argentina scored and Georgia have been playing well. By trying to make it interesting they have just made it incomprehensible with too many ifs and buts.

Even in the France-Tonga game the commentators said the French didn't seem to know they only needed a penalty at the end. Cracking performance by Tonga by the way.

It'll be interesting to see how NZ manage without Carter.

It's nothing to do with Wrigglesworth vs Youngs
In the first game against Arg, Wrigglesworth played most of teh game and was static; when he was replaced by Youngs we "suddenly started playing expansive" and Yongs scored.

It's not necessarily the player it's the strategy

yesterday teh strategy developed by peope who know much more than me, was to take points opportunities whenever you get them, soak up pressure and stay close to Scotland until they felt the pressure and need to be more loose, and then you have the opportunities.

Dont know why everyone continues to diss England. We are by no means perfect buyt we have shown teh ability to play open adn closed games here. Give them some credit for gods sake.
i was still cheering for scotland this morning at half time during the Arg - Georgia game when Georgia were leading

I can see Ireland winning this. The big game experience is there and they seem to be able to bring it together when it matters. My prediction is Ireland nz final and ireland to win a tight one

Other way round for me; England v NZ final and New Zealand to win in a squeak. That could be wishful thinking on my part though because Ireland looked the business last week.

Scots blew it against Argentina, which is a shame because they gave us a really hard time yesterday. Agree that the tough game will have done us good, physically and mentally. We'll need some luck to win, but it's not impossible. Ireland seem to be the better bet, a few of their big players are playing like it's their last chance and are really doing the business

I'm not "dissing" them whatever that is. speak English.
I'm frustrated by them.
I want us to win it, if it's ugly, fine, but i'd so like us to do it in style.

i think Ireland look an interesting bet
Go back 2 years and they had had teh same team pretty much for 5 or 6 years, and were not winning the big ones, and they didnt obviously have any succession in place

Now they do, theyve got a couple of scrum halfs, sexton maturing, numerous back ups in the back 3. Multiple options in the back row and now, Helay performing at a world level at prop, and 2 or 3 other props / hookers in attendance.

i think Wales are marmite, france are marmite with chillies and chocolate, england could easily go the whole way to the final again but i'll not have any finger left, let alone fingernails.

who are NZ going to put in at fly half - my bet is Spencer, so that they can play him, Nonu and Sonny Bill at teh same time - that's a midfield and a half
