Me and Missis T are off there in a few weeks going to Hanoi for three days, Halong Bay on a junk boat. Fly to Cambodia and three days in Cambodia at Siem reap. Fly back to Vietnam for seven days and staying in Hoi an.

Anyone been and able to recommend owt.

Had a look at playing golf out there and looks like it won't be happening coz A, it's expensive. b, Missis T said she will castrate me.

Is is it worth getting measured for a suit.

Vietnam is on my backlist of places to go so look forward to seeing your trip report.

think it'll be a few years before we go as mrs dando wants to go to Mauritius and I want to do Route 66

Did Mauritius a couple of years ago and loved it. Stayed on the east coast where the beaches were excellent and some nice golf courses were in the local vacinity. 👍

We went to Vietnam a couple of years ago. Didn't do the north, but had a week in Hoi An.
Lovely little town, even with the amount of tourists. It's rated the foodie capital of Vietnam, and it didn't disappoint. From the street hawkers to the best restaurants, it was all fantastic.
As for suits, definitely get one made, but research before as some shops are better than others. Mine was and still is great..
Danang is only up the road, and there is several great courses. Relatively expensive, as you say, buy very nice.

try and go on a tunnel treck in Vietnam. its was great to see the network of tunnels they used during the war. at the end of the treck they let you fire loads of machine guns too!!!! awesome

Talking to a guy yesterday on our golf day who went in the Vietcong tunnels. He worked underground for 30 years. He said he went 700 yards down the tunnels and it was squeaky bum time for him. Said he had seen nowt like it.

We did Ho Chi Minh City for a couple of days and mooched around the museums then went to Can Tho and did an early morning trip to the floating market on the Mekong and a tour of the backwaters to see how the locals really live. We then went to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia. The S21 prison and the Killing Fields in Phnom Penh are well...disturbing but worth a visit. The sheer scale and brutality of the Khmer Rouge is beyond belief, and walking around the Killing Fields listening to the audio tour leaves you somewhat numb.

Angkor Wat nr Siem Reap is worth a trip, you won't see it all as the scale of it is phenomenal but you can do day tours to the main sites, there are however a lot of steps so make sure you have plenty of water and decent shoes.
