Anyone here have access to copying vids to dvd. I have about a dozen old golf videos that I would like to watch but my vid player is broken. Wont be buying a new one either!!
I have checked online but they cost about 10-15 quid per tape to copy . Any technical guys/gals here help???

farney.....

as far as I can tell, you've two choices. Either the PC route (using a PCI Video Capture Card) or the simple route which is to borrow a vcr player, link it up to a recordable dvd player press play and press record!!

I do both. I used the PCI capture card to play camcorder stuff into my pc, which is then converted it to computer type files. I can then burn a dvd from my PC....slow, and t.b.h. not that great, and you might need all sort of leads to fix up the audio signal etc.

Using a recordable dvd player is a doddle. if I have something on a "big" vhs tape, I play it on the VCR, link the VCR to the DVD recorder (via scart) and press REC on the DVD. The output on the dvd goes to AV2 on the telly, so what I see is what's being recorded.

Even £10 is an absolute rip-off.....my dvd recorder/player was £95 (Sony...good model) and I sent the old player up to the kids room. Try not to go the PC route if possible.....
