Attended our Dinner/Dance (Treloy GC in Newquay) last night and i am to be the Vice Captain next year, so looking for a few good ideas from all you good folks out there. :D
Have been captain of Football & Pool teams in the past but this is definately going to be better than that. ;)

I can see this being an expensive two years on the premise you will be captain the following year. However there is much prestige too so well done for being asked. Never been in the position so can't offer any sagely thoughts other than don't believe you can keep all of the members happy all of the time

Do you get a car parking space? I think you will be expected to live and breath the club for the next two years. If you are into the committee life then you will enjoy the role and the benefits. Well done and good luck.

On the 7th November I took over as the Club Captain having spent a year as a vice. In that year I worked very closely with my captain and would recommend you do the same. It pays to have regular meetings with him and it also helps to involve your lady captain and vice, Senior Capt and even the junior captain. Several heads are better that one when it comes to planning events. I would recommend you have a debrief meeting of Captains after a club event. It will help when it comes to your turn next year.

Get to know your members as you will need their support throughout the year.
Enjoy your year watching and observing because when you take over as Captain you hit the road running. It is better to be prepared.

Hope this helps.

Well done Eejit you must have done something for the club to be given the honour of becoming the Captain.

I have just finished a stint as Club Captain and it has been great.

Best advice i can give is take the job seriously know your duties but dont take yourself to serious,be yourself.
