I played my first 18 holes at the club today, after several 9 hole scores in the low 50s I was hoping to score under 50 for a least one 9, I ended up scoring 45 on the front 9 and 46 on the back, so 91 and I am very pleased, I played the par 3s particulary well hiiting 4 of the 5 greens although sadly I 3 putted 3 of them, in fact I must have 3 putted 6 or 7 greens, so plently of room for improvement.

Now being a little neurotic, this worrys me a little, 91 equates to a handicap of 19, for someone who honestly hasn't played regularly for 34 years and not play at all for 10, and at best had a handicap of 20, albeit of mens tees, this seems a bit too good for a first handicap, and may lead to questions. Am I being paranoid?

thats just 1 round Louise, if all 3 for h.c purposes put you off 19 then I would take it as a compliment to your golf game. I would pay a handsome sum to be off 19 :)

Glad its all going so well though

no it went fine papyt, although the distance I was gettin was commented on. Today I played with a junior for the first 9 and with 2 new male members for the 2nd.

On the advice of the LGU I have told the club secretary in confidence, he was just going to tell the Lady Captain and hope that it will go no further out of respect for my privacy.

hope he is a man of his word,i played your course about 15 years ago,not a bad track, playing worsley on thurs if i get time off work.

Great shooting, I'd cut my right arm off for that, err hang on that would help! Glad it's going well. Don't worry about the length just concentrate on your own golf. I know you're prob going to be paranoid I can only imagine what's going through your mind but I don't think anyone will think any different. There are plenty of ladies who can hit it long doesn't mean a thing.

Well played.

Three-putts are a pain though aren't they?

It seems from your earlier posts that the club and the ladies section have been very friendly and welcoming so I wouldn't worry. Just play your own game and enjoy.

i think its right thats all should know, i hope they are true to their word to save you grieve later. you may have to loose 50 yards off the tee to blend in though:thup:

Personally I think you are letting it all get on top of you. Hit it and hit it again and don't worry haow far it goes. We've a few women who can give it a good tonk. I certainly wouldn't worry about what handicap you get. If you start at 19 and don't play well you'll go up. If you have a round like today it'll be there or thereabouts. Pretty sure no-one will comment
