I had a lovely letter from Melanie Waters, Chief Executive Officer, at Help for Heroes. Wasn't sure if I should share it, but as I believe it relates to the whole GM Forum H4H team, and wouldn't have been possible without the support of the whole forum, I decided I would.

Dear Richard,

Since joining Help for Heroes last November, I have been touched and humbled in equal measure by the many wonderful stories which reach my desk of the fantastic lengths that our supporters go to to 'do their bit' for our heroes, our wounded, injured ands sick servicemen, women and veterans.

So, when it came to selecting around 25 people, teams or organisations to be recipients of a special thank you, the task was considerable.

But if gives me great pleasure to let you know that you have been chosen to receive a Help for Heroes Award 2017.We would be delighted to present it to you at a special evening of celebration at our Recovery Centre, Tedworth House in Wiltshire.

It is due to your kindness, generosity and dedication that we can continue and so hope that you and a guest can join us. I am very much looking forward to meeting you and thanking you personally for making a difference.

Melanie Waters

I should of course be sharing this award with not only the GM Forum H4H team, but also Rickg who started the GM charity golf day back in 2010. This is not an individual 'thank you', but for the whole team over the last eight years. I know Rick would have been so proud to have received the award, and as it is in my name I dedicate it to him. Gone but never forgotten.

Very well deserved, Rich, to yourself and all the team and, of course Rick.

I've only had the pleasure of making one of the forum's H4H days but a thoroughly good day it was and due in no small part to the very friendly welcome from Rick. Not to mention the large sums raised for a very good cause!

Richart or should it be Richard, get yer chest stuck out man and be dead chuffed with yourself. The baton was passed to you and it has not been dropped. If I was you I would need a bigger head to smile a bit more. Well done and an excellent written post.

Couldn't think of a more fitting person to get an award from H4H

Totally justified. If it was wasn't for the passion RickG had to get this off and running and for your dedication and support by his side, this would never have grown into the loved event we have now nor raised as much as it has. Your work since the passing of Rick and the assistance of Fish and host of others behind the scenes make it very easy for everyone else. We just turn up, enjoy our day, give some money and go home again. Well done to everyone that has worked behind the scenes every year. To all of those going in a couple of weeks, lets really dig deep and make this the biggest and best one yet

Totally deserved, your and Rickg's graft over the years have made the H4H day what it is, the highlight of the forum calendar, and not forgetting Robin who works his socks off to ensure that the legacy continues.

You and Rick complimented each other in the team. You both brought different strengths to the team, along with Vicky of course. Take the award with pride, and the knowledge that it is a shared award to the whole team.

Well earned sir!

Very pleased for you Rich, you, Vicky and all the team are fully deserving of the award and it looks like your efforts have not gone in-noticed.

We here know how hard you work to make it such a great event, and of course Rick would be proud of you all for keeping his dream going.

I'm not going to lie I thought after Ricks passing that it could of been the end but you and the team have done us proud.

Robin has stepped up to the plate and is also doing a great job, and it was a big job to take on.

Enjoy the day/night be proud of your award it is so well deserved.

it is a great recognition of the work that you and Rick have done. I know it's not why you do it, but it must be nice to have some acknowledgement
enjoy the evening

Totally agree with Phil.

The work that Richard and Vicky do for this event is incredible, its gets stronger every year and it hasn't gone unnoticed

Well done to all the team involved

It seems to me they give awards away far too easily these days:D

On a serious note congratulations Rich, It's not just all the time hard work money and effort that you put in that we all appreciate but the way you conduct yourself and never moan that we all admire as well.

A fantastic recognition for a fantastic gentleman.

Arise Sir Richart of Blackmoor.

Think its a great thing that is done with regards to H4H and all the people that help/have helped it happen.

Such a good cause.

Well done, but personally I would never donate to H4H purely do to the fact that a Royal Marine friend of mine who suffered catastophic leg injuries in the first gulf conflict is not eligible for support from them,I'm sure I read somewhere the cut off date for help is the early 2000's which leaves a lot of injured servicemen and woman not supported by H4H. H4H have done a lot of good for injured servicemen but i'd have to agree with Simon Weston's comments
