My Dad got a loan of an insignia to go golfing tomorrow. Is taking my clubs and trolley as he only has 3 travelling and our 4 ball is going in a VW Golf. Decided to get our stuff in tonight. That's 2 bags a powerkaddy and a gokart. Got to say it is a horrible car to try and pack things in even with the stupidly proportioned small split seat down. Seriously seem like a big car that thinks it is small. I can pack my Kia Rio with more ease. :sbox:

Compare that to the Mondeo which seems to be aimed at the same market. I can get 4 bags, two electric trolleys and 2 pull trolleys in with room to spare without touching the seat.

Must try again in the morning when I'm not so tired and annoyed. Biggest issue is the powerkaddy. Man that thing is big compared to the GK.

Point still stand though. For the size of the car it is pretty poor for anyone that regularly transports 4 balls.

I get all my work tools and golf gear in my boot no problem.
Only downside, it's been into Northgate (it's a company car) twice in two weeks for breakdowns :(
I quite like the car, maybe not as refined as my old Mazda 6 but still nice to drive.

My old mans one was brilliant for getting gear into, used to get 2 trolleys and sets of clubs in no issue at all. Then he made the mistake of downsizing car, thankfully he corrected that and now has a car with enough boot space to fit an elephant in

You assume some cars would be great for golf gear, my mate has just bought a c63 amg estate! Perfect car, tonnes of power, v8, estate! You would think it would be perfect! No, he has to take his woods out of the bag to fit! (Due to trolley and other stuff)

You would think that BMWs would be quite 'golf friendly' given all their sponsorship.

But boots are still pretty small - and they used to be tiny!

Yeh 3 series boot requires a 45 degree angle to get a bag in with woods. 5 series has a decent boot...

GM to do a top gear test on the best cars for golfers?

I vote my XC90, I reckon I could get a 4 ball with bags, trolleys and players no problem in comfort! Which is lucky, as they can chip in for the diesel as its that bad with it! Lol

I have the new Golf, I can't fit my driver in the boot..have to take it out and throw it on the back seats.

On the plus side, that's the only fault I've found with it.

I went to look at an insignia and couldn't get my driver in without the seats down. The salesmen was abit of a plant pot and said these cars are for execs who don't play golf haha

Jetta ,3 bags 3 trolleys and 3 cases no probs had it now 6 years looking at getting the newer model, that one has done nearly 100k and still going strong ,fingers crossed i've had no probs with it.

Friends saloon version doesn't have this problem.

I have the new Mondeo and its perfect for golf gear with room to spare

In fact its a great car period, mine is the Business edition which is like the Titanium X spec. but cheaper !
