I know we all have these false alarms where you secretly think something has happened and your golf game has clicked.. only for you to have a horrendous game not so long after!

But... has anybody ever had one of those Eureka moments and something actually clicked and you went on to the next level?
I'd be very interested to find out!

Only if you count needing to practice as an 'eureka' moment.
I used to wonder why my chipping was so bad, then I thought about it and realized that maybe actually doing something about it was the way to go. So I practiced.. a lot!
It still needs improvement, but now I do get complimented fairly regularly on my chipping which is something that never used to happen.

By no means a Eureka moment but I had a series of lessons over the winter and I'm hitting the ball the best I ever have, and the few scores I've had to start the year are encouraging.

Had a eureka moment during a lesson at the back end of last year. All winter been playing some of the best golf I've played (+1 for our front 9, +4 back nine - I'm playing off 19). Unfortunately, in the stableford at the weekend I failed to take that step forward - although I am blaming the softness and footprint effect on the greens for a large number of bobbled (missed) putts....... Ball striking was pretty good for the most part.

I have a eureka moment once every 3 - 6 months. Then it all goes to pot and I have to wait for the next one. Last one was around the October time when I was playing really well. Found something after filming my swing over the weekend and starting bringing my arms lower in the swing, getting a much better shot (no fade / slice) so might be on the edge of my next one. However, just like the eureka moment in October, it'll be long gone by June!

So nobody has had one that's stuck then - they all seem to be little fixes.

I think I've had one, and it's sticking! I'm fully expecting to get down from 10 to 5 this season now..

That's a serious drop in h/c, hope you do it, give it socks :)

(ps. so what's the tip?!) ;)

I decided to try and not hit the ball as far as I could but go for accuracy and consistency so I slowed my swing down slightly and concentrated on hitting through the ball and not at it.
so far it seems to be working as I am hitting more fairways off the tee.
Just need to sort out my awful short game

It is, but I've had 8 rounds +5 or under in the past year, and I know I'm more than capable.

My tip is get lessons, actually practice them (as much as you can and as hard as you can, doing the uncomfortable stuff that makes you look rubbish in the process, i.e. trusting the pro).
Then it has suddenly happened, my swing is now so comfortable and easy that I can hit it as hard as I can and the harder I do it the better it is. I'm currently feeling like a pro and am disappointed when I get a bogey.

It's every aspect of my game though, from short game, long, putting, I'm just in a very happy golfing place and it feels so natural, like never before!

Nice positive post - delighted for you chap - hope the season brings everything you want!

I've been getting lessons with Bobmac and have seen a huge improvement through practicing what I've been taught. Another change Sunday and it's back to not feeling natural for a while, but I can see the benefit of it, like you say if the pro is good and you trust him and work through the not-feeling-natural swings at the range then it pays off. I need to work on putting/short game before I'll see a material drop in h/c I'd say but I'm hoping long game will be in better shape than ever going into 2016 :)

Not so much an Eureka moment as I'd had lessons and worked with my Pro on it. But I remember when the day on the course when I was able to shape the shot on command. It was a wee bounce game, I throw down two additional balls to check it was a fluke. Nope...there it was...three perfectly executed draws into the green. You could have knocked me down with a feather

Think I've just had a series of epiphanies but need to do it in a competition before I can really shout eureka. A lot of things have finally clicked and I think I'm verging on posting a tasty score. Probably just put maximum mockers on myself though! :o

Major one for me was when I was playing off 21 was just a basic course management thing.

I just tried to play bogey golf and then any par was a bonus. I'd play a lot of holes to try and get in front of the green in 2 and chip on and 2 putt, and then quite a bit I'd chip and 1 putt.

My handicap tumbled because I wasn't wasting shots going for greens in 2 shots when I didn't need to.

I've recently improved my game by trying to stay in balance a bit better. I had too much weight on my toes at address, which made it difficult to stay in balance, with a tendency to fall forward during my follow through. I am working on getting my weight more evenly balanced between my toes and my heels. Seems to be paying dividends, because I am hitting fewer shanks and fat shots, and I can normally hold the pose at the end of my follow through without looking like an out of balance tightrope walker!

A slight adjustment on take away and earlier cocking of the wrists has seen a nice improvement in iron accuracy. :)

And that is exactly what it is, but as I said my whole game has come on as a knock-on effect. Probably due to peace of mind and confidence!

Thanks Curls.
Bobmac is a top man. He helped me out a year or so ago with a shanks problem. Took time out to help me which was really appreciated.
We sound at similar stages in our golf and good luck to you, it's all about trust and confidence and the rest will follow.

Good luck Curls!
