So the USPGA kicks off on Thursday

Who's everyone picking to win?

I'm going for (all e/w 1/4 odds 1-2-3-4-5-6-7)

Schwartzel 66/1
Matsuyama 80/1
Ooshtuizen 90/1
J. Thomas 100/1
K. Bradley 125/1
Fitzpatrick 200/1

Goodluck All

Good picks as usual D, some serious odds for proven past major winners there. To that list I'd add Dufnor at 100/1 who seems to have an affinity and wasn't playing poorly until recently. I picked up a healthy £890 win from a £1 e/w stake last weekend - had a Major Willett - Grace - Big Phil treble that paid out the place. Had they all won it'd have been £95k. Some closer than others!

I've gone for some in form big hitters, Finau, Woodland, JB... I noticed Coetzee stormed to a 63 Sunday at the Canadian so have gone for him carrying his form into the first round leader market.

Good luck to all those who have a crack!

Snedeker might do well this week, in a bit of form.
Fancy Rory, Grace and Garcia also.
Surely its time for Sergio..............

I'd love Rory to win but just can't see it at the minute, am sure he'll have 1 really good day but an off day or a mixed day on the Thursday or Friday will cost him.

The greens are big so alot of GIR but I think the best putter will win - Spieth (unfortunately!) for me is just long enough and he'll return to putting form.

I would love to see Tony Finau win it. It might be a bit unlikely, but not entirely impossible, he has been playing very well this season so far. It seems to be a course that favours the long hitters, so Jason Day and Dustin Johnson both seem very good picks.

My fantasy league team (only European Tour players) consists of:
Rory McIlroy
Henrik Stenson
Sergio Garcia
Rafa Cabrera-Bello
Branden Grace
Shane Lowry

Gone early with EW bets on Sullivan, Bubba, Furyk and Phil. Will do one more on Sunday when it gets down to business! I am thinking a cheeky outsider on Byeong-Hun An at 150/1 ;)

A random will win it I think.

Bit of a hint in the last post but what sort of course is it? Is it one where the bombers can unleash with little penalty or is there more to it?

A lot of chat that those who hit it long and straight will do well, but whilst there's a couple of long par 4s (normally par 5s for members) even the short hitters will hit the large greens in 2. Spieth (at Augusta!) shows you don't have to be the longest. There's only 2 par 5s (17 & 18) so unlike other bombers courses, the par 5 scoring may not be as significant. Even then there's chat that guys taking 3 to get there will have a simple wedge in and it should yield birdies. I think guys will find the greens but they might be a good distance away from the hole. The rough is supposedly tricky, so anyone who keeps it on the fairway (regardless of distance) will have a great chance.

Given we have a mini-run of one player picking up 2 majors in the same year I'm gonna go for DJ (that and I have him in the sweep)

Rory and Spieth for me but I'm rubbish at picking these things so they'll most likely miss the cut now or just explode in the car park.

I've got a few bets on

Mickelson/Stenson & Mcilroy to all finish top 20 - 16/1
Luiten/Beef/Finau to all make the cut - 20/1
Mickelson or Garcia to win - 12/1
Snedeker to place in top 10 - 9/4
Scott to place top 10 - 100/30
Coetzee to place top 5 after R1 - 200/1
Kaymer to win - 50/1 - EW
Mcilroy to win - 8/1

Had a bit left in the skybet account, so had a cheeky few!

Hi I am new to this site so I thought I would introduce myself, I live in the Algarve Portugal now after moving here from England via Alberta Canada and I have just taken up Golf again after a 20 year lay off.

This is an interesting thread and I have Backed Mickelson at 25s because his swing is back on song with his new swing coach so his mental state is in good shape and he won here in 2005.

Whatever anyone says this will suit the bigger hitters and the shorter hitters but only if the shorter hitters can keep it in the fairway they will struggle for accuracy on the greens on the long par 4s from the rough.

It is also a shotmakers course. The scores around here will be a lot higher than your usual 17 unders etc in the USPGA and this course will set up a bit more like a US Open. I was lucky on DJ at 16-1 in the US OPen and he will be a threat here.

I hope Phil can hold his present good form and it will be a great 3 ball with him Rory and Day together.
My personal take is that Rory is better on courses that he can shoot the lights out of but time will tell.
The last 2 holes are both par 5s and they will no doubt decide the winner over 4 days. Good luck on your wagers.

I'd recommend backing anyone else but these people as I'm cursed - very similar choice to my Open bets and they all tanked. :)

Each way on:

Lowry
Rose
Fitzpatrick
Sullivan
Grace
Matsuyama
Reed
Snedeker

Lol I am Cursed with Sergio as every time I have bet on him he has played like Sergeant Garcia out of Zorro.
