Anyone know of a site where I can look up some values ?

Have used what car in the past but never found them that realistic.

Cheers.

You can look in Parkers Guide or suchlike but the only true way is to ask the specific dealer..... What you get for your car will depend a lot on what you are looking to buy so a true "part exchange" price is very difficult to determine.

I suppose it also depends on how much they want your car, can they sell it on quickly or will it need work and off to the auctions.?

That won't be a "part exchange" price though.
;)
I would also use "webuyanycar.com" as my guide. Whilst I know px prices are always less than a "private" sale, Inhave always found your px price depends immensely on how keen the salesman is to sell that car your looking at. The differences some garages/dealerships will offer you can and do vary wildly.

Not necessarily. If you are looking to buy a used car then the part exchange price will tend to be similar between various garages.
If you are buying a new car, the part exchange price can be "manipulated" by taking into account any offers the manufacturer is making.
Take Ford for instance. They are offering finance deposit allowances. But they aren't widely advertised.
You could walk into a Ford main dealer and be offered as much as £2k more for your car than you would be at a dealer who doesn't have a finance deposit allowance to help him out.
It doesn't make your car worth any more (trade value) but it does heighten your perceived notion of what your car is actually worth.
Our local Ford dealer is offering a "scrappage scheme" although the "real" scrappage scheme ended years ago.
All he is doing is using the finance deposit allowance to bloat your part exchange.

The OP asked for the value of his car.
The value of his car is not what webuyanycar say it is...

The OP asked for the trade in value on his car.
The value that webuyanycar give you is not the trade in value.
It's the trade value to buy.
I've explained above why the part exchange value may not be the same as the trade value.

Trade in prices are irrelevant. The only figure that matters is the amount of cash you have to hand over for your new car.

Garage A offers you £1500 trade in and want £10,000 for the new car = £8,500 to trade up

Garage B offers you £1000 trade in but will sell you the new car for £9,000 = £8,000 to trade up.

as above he asked for values. Not specifically trade in values.

if you ask me the value of your car is what it is worth at a private sale, not what it'd be bought at to sell on & make a profit.

Hence why I stated that the value of the car In my opinion is not as stated by webuyanycar

Lot of variables.
I'm not a very good poker player and when a salesman says 'we would offer you x ' for your car, I never know if its a good deal or not, hence the question.
Its nice to have a ball park figure in mind, so I guess the private sale figure from WBAC is the most you'll likely to get ?

Same when it comes to putting your offer on the car you're buying.

I suppose the two figures essentially trade of against eachother.

Did you sell it privately?

Don't forget. They are buying. You're selling.

What price the dealer gives for a trade in , then if its a good car they resell for a mark up of up to 2 grand after a clean and repair , or you can check on auto trader to see what a car close to yours in mileage and condition is being advertise for , that's a good guide I say ...................EYG

But with all due respect, your opinion counts for diddly squat when it comes to getting a value on webuyanycar.
They are quoting you the "trade" value for your car on the basis that they are going to buy it, sell it on, and make a profit.
No website or valuation service is going to quote the price you think you will get for it selling it privately.

If only it were that easy....

why does my opinion count for diddly squat?

If he's after a valuation for his car (i'm assuming he would like to make the most amount he could get) why would he go to webuyanycar?

As I pointed out I made another £600 roughly by selling privately hence why I gave my opinion on not using webuyanycar...

I think we are at crossed purposes here.
I was also telling him not to use webuyanycar in as much as it wouldn't give him an accurate "trade in figure" which is what he was after
