Monty has had a cracking start -

6 under first round to sit at the top of the leaderboard

So ends up 4 shots back from the leader with one round to go - goign to be a tough final round - especially with Langer there also

Certainly happy to see Monty competing - and relatively happily too!

Langer's putting let him down. At least 4 across/round right lip from relatively short distance!

Could be a very German sporting day!

Great to see him doing well, think he'll definitely pick up more senior majors. Don't think the heat will do him any favours in the last round, forecast to be 100 degrees

i think one of the commentators was having a dig about that, they gave a close up of a pin placement card in a trap and they said jokingly it could be MONTYS dry cleaning ticket,to stiffled laughs .

Great win for Monty although the other guy did seem to be trying to give it to Monty a bit in the play off and looked by far the more nervous. Great putt by Monty on final play off hole to seal the win. Be great to see him dominated like Langer and Irwin have in the past

For Colin Montgomerie, majors seem to be like buses. You wait for ages and then two come along at once! At least he has now definitely earned his place in Golf's Hall of Fame. :)

and great news for golf viewers too, as while he's playing, he's not on the pundit couch on sky;)

He's probably going to be even less tolerable from now on!

Having met him a couple of times away from tournaments, in a group and individually, he really is a cheery, likeable guy. Completely different to when in 'tournament' mode!

agreed, 'met' him at the 1st Tee of the Kings course when he was playing in the Johnny Walker on the PGA, he was carrying his own bag and walking past but stopped to let us tee off- we insisted he carried on as Monty watching us tee off was nerve racking- he insisted we all tee off first (with a wry smile), we did and you'd expect me to say we all boomed beautiful drives down the middle? 2 tops a slice and a pull hook saw Monty walk on with an even bigger wry smile:smirk:

Montys an intense competitor and it shows on the golf course, he wants to win and did so and dominated European golf for years and now he's doing the same on the seniors. The guys at work on course and people need to remember that, ive caddied for a lot of guys just the same as Monty very intense on course but have a great sense of humour off and are great to be around.I think Montys really enjoying he's recent success but I cant help but think he so wants one of those reg tour majors that he's now qualified for, and it would be great if he pulled it off.
