US Open - Woman's penalty

Very unfortunate. Felt very sorry for her but rules are rules.
As for the usga informing both players after anna had played 3 and lang only 2 seemed a little unfair although I appreciate they said they wanted to get the info to player's asap.

Indeed - the minute you start trying to make any judgement call on whether there's an advantage to one party in the timing is the time it becomes a nightmare. If you stick to as soon as practical it all evens itself out over time (in theory!)

Rule officials screwing up again though... taking the time to let them know (fair enough), but then telling Nordqvist AFTER her shot on the 18th and telling Lang BEFORE her's who admitted she played more conservatively because she now had a 2 shot lead instead of being tied.

Yeah, looks like bad timing indeed. Nordqvist said in an interview that she would have played more aggressive had she known before her tee shot. Either tell both players before they tee off or keep the news from them for the rest of the hole. Everything else is just unfair.

You have to feel for her, shame really and as she says she may have played the last hole differently.

To me it is an example of one of the pointless rules that exists in Golf IMHO (I appreciated the rules say it is to ensure you do not test the conditions of the bunker, but we don't have the rule for the fairway :):o).

I thought the way they handled it was shocking, such an advantage for Bethany

Any coincidence it favoured the American player?

Nordqvist was classy in the way she spoke afterwards, you could she was in pieces

I agree Anna took the decision well and her interview afterwards was hard to watch without feeling so sorry for her.
