Well the groupings have been released and looks like they have done the usual so you have Tiger, Rory and Adam Scott to watch for the first 2 days.

A few others ...

- Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker and Keegan Bradley
- Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer.
- Justin Rose, Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker
- Graeme McDowell, Jim Furyk and Zach Johnson.
- Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington and Stewart Cink.

Just looked at the US Open site and course looks really tight out there and looks lovely to.

Imagine the driver will be left in the bag by a lot of players for this. If Westwood could putt i'd think he'd be a huge favourite with his long game here.

Hard to call this one think maybe Rose has the best overall game of the europeans especially with Donald not having the best year so far

Tough one to call this year I think as a lot of the top players seem to be struggling with form,Reckon Kuchar and GMac should come close.

Anyone know if they are using flags on the pins this year? Merion used to use wicker baskets on the pins, an idea the architect Hugh Wilson picked up from Sunningdale. They allowed the player to see the pin from any angle and did not help the player to judge wind speed or direction. Be nice to see this for a change.

Saw a documentary about them and they seemed to indicate that they would be in use next week.

Just heard that the area has had flash flooding, so course is currently struggling ... Shame as they have been preparing for so long, and then Mother Nature gets in the way !

Gonna be another strange us open, with all the flooding the greens are not going to be rock hard, but the rough could be a lot more brutal if its damp.

Course management have been prepping two holes on another course in case the 11th/12th are unplayable. Players will be bussed to and from the other holes to continue their rounds (they are having 2 tee start this year on the 1st and 11th).

Certainly the pics I saw this morning of the course look dreadful, I hope the rains disappear and the course drains quickly.
