Thanks for the reply, a pity you can't make it but I'm still hopeful!

I was supposed to having a rest day tomorrow but I could make it.

Brilliant Louise!
Cost is £40 a player but I'll go halves with you for standing in at such short notice!

As above, tee time is 3.00 pm, I'm aiming to get there for around 1.30ish, anything else you need to know?

eeek , I realised the time was 3pm, I thought it was 1pm (read wrong post) and I hoped to delete my reply before you read it, but you read it so I will be there.

If you get to play Crow, let me know what the course is like please, I`m playing it on the 22nd in a 4 man team comp.
Nobody`s replied to my question in the "Playing a new course" thread, so if you don`t mind, I`d appreciate it. Cheers.

I've played it several times before and always enjoy it. Generally you can see the holes before you, most fairways are reasonably wide but if you do get off line you can rack up some big numbers. Greens are good and can be fast in the summer.

4th hole has a blind shot to a green in a hollow with a stream behind, green is usually receptive so pick your club and trust it!
5th is a blind tee shot but to a generous fairway.
12th is best shorter than longer off the tee as it's very easy to run out of fairway.
18th always needs more club than you think but the car park behind the green puts doubts in your mind.

Decent range and chipping area.
Clubhouse is a step back to days gone by but I like it and it's worth a look round.
If I have time I always have the smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast.

I am looking forward to playing it, a few friends have told me its a great course. I will aim to get there between 2 and 2.30 depending on the traffic.

Many thanks again Louise.
I'm looking to get there around 1.30 and will be either on the practice area or in the clubhouse eating aforementioned tasty fayre.

I'm think we've met before, possibly at Hillside a few years back?
I'll be wearing beige trousers (what else ;)) and a dark blue polo.

I'm sure you won't forget, being a regular competition goer, but they will ask for handicap cert or CDH number.

Cheers Crow, Regarding the handicap cert or CDH number, do they ask all competitors in Comps held there? Will our 4ball need to show ours?

Cheers again Crow, many thanks.

Scrotie played there in March and loved it. If it's a comp and your serious about playing it well get a course planner would be well worth a fiver. Like has been said, hit the fairways and you should score well. When I played in March they were trying to lengthen some of the holes as by today's standards it was a bit short. Some holes they can lengthen others no chance.
The club house is " old school" crisps in bowls that kinda thing. We could only go in the Ryder cup room after we had played as the main room was members only in Blazers. That aside the Ryder cup room is nice. The had a brochure knocking about which shows the 100 yr anniversary of the place. Well worth reading.
If Louise cannot get tomorrow al iron me dress and turn up Crow. 😜👍

just had had a look on BBC weather and it will be excellent conditions, 21 degrees, slightly over cast with a bit of sun and 6-9 mph wind. Gorgeous.

The course is superb, but staying on the fairways is a must, the rough is punitive, and hard to get out of if you manage to find your ball.

Thanks for the offer Tashyboy but the game was today, post started on Saturday.

Louise answered the call and once she'd settled in after the first few holes played some good golf and we scored 17 out, 21 back for a respectable 38 points. Nowhere enough to get in the prizes, there were a lot of 40 plus scores, but an enjoyable round.

Only downside was that it was very slow, just over 5 hours for the round, we were last out but even so there was a lot of waiting around.

Thanks again Louise and well played. Hope you got back home in time for some sleep before your match tomorrow!
