Must decide in next hour or so if i should play The Els Club here in Dubai this Saturday morning.£100 playing with my cuz who lives out here. The company would be great but my golf using his oversize Wilson's is currently rubbish. But is the course good and so should just go for it regardless? Help!

I'd go for it too! Can you not hire a better set at the course?

Might see if i can ... If i play. The course itself seems to get slightly mixed reviews and £100 would be most I've ever spent on a round of golf...But I'm not here every week...And everything is relative...

I can't even fathom the idea spending £100 on a round of golf, but then again I couldn't afford to go to Dubai in the first place either.

Hour is up, but I'd say you have to play it!

£100 (plus club hireage perhaps) is presumably little compared to how much the trip is costing overall!

Enjoy!

Club hire would be £50 for a set of TM M1s or RSIs

Actually V lucky as my cuz lives on The Walk JBR - perfect holiday location - free 😎

He's going to ask around his pals to see if i can borrow a set.

£100 is an awful lot of money to spend on a round of golf - but...

Besides - i bought my Mrs a delayed 25th wedding anniversary diamond ring earlier in the week - and that cost waaaaay more than this round of golf - so maybe i treat it as her pressie to me

Anyway - looks like my cuz is booking it 😁 ah what the heck - life isn't a rehearsal

Ah well - we missed out on the last remaining tee time at the Els Club and so we are now 9am on The Emirates Faldo course - more expensive but ...

Even more expensive!? Bloody hell! How much is that one?

695AED - yes i know - that's just under £150 - cheaper than Trump Aberdeen btw. But i just wouldn't spend that sort of money on golf in the UK. Besides out here everything is at least 50% more expensive than in UK.

Hopefully i can get a decent set of clubs organised for me out here.

How often do you go on a holiday like this?
Play and enjoy! It's not everyday you get the opportunity.

So Saturday 9am is booked - search on for a decent set of bats as not paying £50 to rent a set (Taylormade TM1s they would be) . I can hit my cuz's driver well - it's the darned oversized irons with the set back hosel that are the challenge for me - and the putter straight off the pitch and putt - almost- but it works. Anyway...I'm here and I'm not out to play to my handicap but to enjoy my golf on a pretty good track.

If you don't do it, you'll wish you had.
If you can afford it do it, if you can't afford it, sell your computer 😂😂😂😂

So you may not play your best with strange clubs so what ? have a relaxed game and enjoy it. If the score's a disaster you've got a readymade excuse:lol:

Enjoy the Faldo. It's a nice knock. Played it under floodlights last year, and will be doing the same later this year.

The Majlis is something else too at The Emirates GC
