Evenin all,
Just thought I'd post a little update on my thread started the other evening......

Couldnt help but notice the TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 Tour Fairway 3 wood in our Pro shop, - set at a standard 14.5 degrees, but fully adjustable down to 13*, so asked if they could tape it up and let me have a crack. Sure - duly done.

I nip out tonight for 30mins, only taking my usual R7 3 wood (15*/Steel Shaft), and the RBZ, and head staight onto one of our long Par4's.

Few practise swings, and here we go....

1st one, teed low as I usually do.........not sweet inevitably......but still away ok.
2nd one.....feels off the bottom, but finds the fairway........
3rd one......Tee it up a bit more..... I 'chase it' a little, and push it right a smidge.
4th........ Finds the Sweet spot and flies.........and flies.......down the middle.

I walk up the fairway with my 'Measure Shot' activated on Garmin S1 Watch.......

No1 - 219yds.....
No2 - 235yds.....
No 3 - 232yds.....
No4 - Oh yes.........252yds. Now we're talking.

I walk across and play another of our long Par4's.......this time I hit 2 with my usual 3W......both find the fairway,
and both 220ish.
Then hit 3 with the RBZ,....all sweet, ......all on the fairway.........and all 235-240.

I then tried it off the deck, and despite me not being the best 'fairway wood' exponent, all get good distance with good contact, and although i'm 220yds back, 3 go through the green.

I think I may have found my solution to hitting fairways.......and considering its the first time I've swung it, results were very promising.
Head weight felt good too - you could feel it right through the swing, something thats lacking with me with Drivers......that same feel.

BUT - also tempted to try and find somewhere to test the Adams fairways too.......supposedly also very long.

Im in the same position as you trying to find fairways mate. I ended up buying a wilson fxi 13 degree 3 wood with graffaloy blue shaft.

So far so good. Played 2 rounds with it and playing alot better. -1 through 8 tonight not seen those figures in a while. Il not mention the rest though haha.

I can't stand the graphics on the RBZ2, looks like something hazardous. Each to his own though! What about trying the Callaway X Hot Fairway? Better looking in my opinion and supposed to have a 'hot face'. Love my fairway wood, an old (2006?) Taylormade V Steel, most consistent club I carry. Good luck in your search mate.

Just looked at the Callaway XHot, but its only a 15*, I'm wanting something 13* or adjustable down to 13, - ie Strong 3.
The Cally is available in a 13.5 in the Pro Model, but that 'sits Open', which doesnt sit well with me :)

Have you looked at the Callaway X Hot "3 deep"?

It's designed (from what I can gather) to be a driver replacement and has less loft thatn 15*.

Something I'm considering haveing a bash with myself if I can find one.

Isn't this similar to what Phil Mickleson was using at the US Open?

I believe (from reading wrx a while back) Mickleson has something called a "Phrankenwood" that has even less loft than this, principle is the same I think. Link below, other online and retail stores are available, this was the first one in google!

http://www.clubhousegolf.co.uk/acatalog/Callaway-X-HOT-3-Deep-Golf-Fairway.html

I believe I remember Butch Harmonrefering to Phily Micks Phrankenwood as, in essence, a strong 3 wood lofted head, slightly bigger than usual, with a driver length shaft plugged in.

Kraxx on here bought the Adams Hybrid/Rescue, the white headed one, not sure of the model and he can make that fly a good distance. That said I tried the same club in AG and I couldn't make it work, so opted for the Titleist 913H rescue.
