So, I broke my 6 iron on the range the other day after hitting around 10 balls in a row with it. Anyone else snapped a shaft in the same place as this?!

Never seen one snap there, and the last place I'd expect a steel to snap,

On the pus side it's a common shaft, can get it matched for are 19.00 fitted plus the grip.

As above.

That is an area of the shaft more likely to go in a graphite rather than steel.

I was annoyed when the shaft hit me round the back of the neck, but almost started to laugh when I saw how it broke. But as you say, an S300 shaft is relatively cheap.

Have you thought about loosening your grip a little.

I would say that at some time you've tweaked it getting it out of the bag or walking through a door to the range as there has to have been some sort of damage to the shaft for it to fail there.

I've seen it happen before when some guy came in with this problem. Pro explained it was cause as the inside of shift had rusted and snapped away.

God knows if it is true

Do you use the hinge and hold method?

I've never seen one break there, must be a manufacturing fault in my opinion, unless you have hit something you shouldn't have???

Id be thinking a one handed smackdown after a bad shot! ;)

That said, I did tap the ground once with a 6 iron and it buckled in the middle, honestly was just a tap too.
