Just signed up to golfshake today and entered my 43 point card from Sunday. I appreciate this was a good score but we weren't putting out.

Given it's winter and there was one temp green should my cut of 1.5 strokes count? How would you guys manage unofficial handicaps?

It's unofficial so you can do whatever you want - doesn't really matter to anyone but yourself - the one temp green doesn't matter as that would still make a comp Qualfiying but the gimmies obviously wouldn't.

It doesn't matter. Do as you please although if you aren't putting out and it's temp greens I can't see how it would be a qualifier so I wouldn't count it as a cut

The above answers are true but perhaps not particularly helpful.....

Are you using the golfshake thing to "accurately" measure you're progress handicap wise as you would if you were a member of a club? If yes, then I wouldn't enter it for the reason's you've given.

If you're not that bothered in that sense then I'd just enter every score I get. Does it give you increases etc if you have a bad round? Never looked so not sure what it does etc

You can still officially get a handicap cut with up to 3 winter greens as long as the course is no shorter than 200 yards off the official measured yardage

100 yards and no more than 2 winter greens

Where did you get your information, I am very sure it's 200 yards

Well as a comp and HC Sec I get all my info from the Congu manual that I use as reference to ensure all the comps i run conform to those guidelines - I can tell you exactly where in the manual the guideline if you wish

I want to see it quoted, i'm sure it's 200 yards as my club sometimes have qualifiers with a winter green or 2 and I have questioned it

As Phil has told you, Winter Congu 13.1

Can we play qualifying competitions using winter tees and greens?
Clause 13.1 of the CONGU UHS allows a Club to run qualifying competitions if there are temporary tees and not more than two temporary greens in play. The adjusted length however must not vary by more than 100 yards from the courses official measured length.

It's very much a basic rule of qualifying competitions so I'm surprised your HC Sec didn't give you the right answer or at least look it up and tell you where to find the answer

I'd be quite happy if you would quoted it as I had this very conversation with my own handicap secretary a couple of weeks back
