Hello,
Sadly I'm not a golfer but my Dad was and I have inherited his golfing items. Amongst them are a blue leather golf bag, seemingly made by Uniroyal but I can't find any other Uniroyal golf bags on the internet. I gather Uniroyal made golf balls for a while but bags??? Interested to know more, and where / how to sell it if it has any value? Many thanksIMG_20190709_162818.jpg

Sell :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Some things are destined for the local tip.

You may get some interest for the clubs but I would not expect them to have great value.

Uniroyal was an American company and yes they are the same company as the tyre manufacturers.
They had a base in Scotland for a while in the 1970s and made clubs there as well as bags, Arnold Palmer was their brand ambassador.

The bag is unlikely to be real leather, more like vinyl of some sort, value wise the condition looks quite tired and I think you'd be lucky to get £5 for it.

The clubs might have more chance to make a bit though. what make and models are they? Some pictures of the back of the heads on the irons and the top and sole of the woods would be helpful.

Thanks for the reply, and yes, the bag and cart are tired and well travelled. My Dad was the first person to win the Benue Plateau Governors Cup in 1968 when he was living in that part of the world. Here is a link to his other golfing items...interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks

That's great, your Dad must have been a decent player.

The clubs look to be a little earlier than the bag, maybe late 1960s.
Value-wise again they aren't going to make a significant amount as they're well used but they are certainly worth saving, I quite fancy them myself.
I see a 2 and a 6 iron, what numbers are the rest of the irons?
Whereabouts are you based.

The monogrammed golf balls are nice, probably made by Penfold who were specialist ball manufacturers.

Hi, I will have to check during the week as they are in my late Dad's basement in the next village...probably a bit far for you though as located in Normandy, France!! The age of the clubs would tie in as we was obviously playing in the mid-late 60's...perhaps they were a wedding present when he married in 1964? I was curious about the monogrammed golf balls too...the Lancashire Steel Corporation Ltd was nationalised in 1951 becoming the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain, so I'm guessing these must be pre-1951? Also, why would a steel company be issuing golf balls? Perhaps for a tournament they sponsored? They obviously meant something to my Dad becuase they are still boxed and wrapped in tissue paper. So many questions that I never got a chance to ask him!

To be honest the clubs could be anywhere between the mid 1950s through to the late 1960s so that certainly ties in well with your dates.
He was a lucky man if he had golf clubs for a wedding present!

The LSC balls could definitely date to 1950 and are a nice collectible on their own. They could have been used as a promotional gift or as a giveaway at a company golf day or even at a sponsored tournament as you suggest.

A pity that you're in Normandy, but I'll have a look at costs for a parcel to the UK, it's really only the irons that I'm interested in as British made irons from this period are what I collect so that would reduce the size of the parcel.

Finally got round to getting a couple more photos...

Thanks for the new pictures.
The woods are Ben Sayers Crown woods featuring their Gruvsol design. The Gruvsol was sold for quite a few years, see advert below.
Unfortunately the condition of the woods looks to be worse than I thought with a few cracks in the heads and a lot of face wear, they might be restorable by an expert but otherwise are best kept as an example of this club, by anyone who has the space!

You have the full set if irons 2 to 9 which is good, these too are well worn but are still playable.
I had a quick look at trying to work out shipping costs but after the damned Brexit this is much more complicated than it was and put me off getting an actual price.
A pity as I do like the look of the irons.

I don't know what interest there is in vintage golf in France, Sweden has a strong group of collectors and I believe that France has a fledgling hickory group.
