I remeber watching it live. Nowadays Wood would probably get the crowd to rock the tree until the ball dropped out next to the hole. I seem to remember it caused a real commotion afterwards with the shot being replayed constantly on the news bulletins, talked about in the press and the magazines

This was a great spectacle but not a great shot. Difficult and awkward maybe, but he could get there and hit it with the face of the club, all he required was enough weight to drop it to the green. After all it was a poor shot that put him there.A great shot is what Tiger did at Agusta, great judgement, great reading ,tiny bit of luck maybe, but fantastic and deserving outcome.
