Apparently they dug them up? just bits and pieces, not exactly nicking out of the display cabinet but not a nice thing to do nevertheless.

from what was shown on tv a bit of broken glass,a rusty bits of metal they found lying on the ground hardly the crime of the century as people making out,who can say these bits were not from the refurbishment,not as though hacking chunks from the buildings.

Very disappointing.... but at the risk of having rotten fruit thrown.... they're only 17. Yes old enough to know better, and will in time no doubt be (hopefully) horrified.

Those were my thoughts too. Some of the stuff I did at that age makes me cringe looking back, but you have to make the mistakes to be able to learn. In this case, a pretty decent sized mistake and tbh they really should have known better by age 17, but not really a crime that deserves anything more than the big slap on the wrist that they've received from the legal system over there.

I think you need to take your rose tinted glasses off from yesteryear. Kids have always done moronic things and people have always shown a lack of respect for things. The only difference is due to 24 hr news media coverage, things like this make the news instead of the local rag.
