Farage doing his own thing and in two years time an ex-MEP; Nuttall as a 'hot air' party leader and not able to win a very winnable Westminster Stoke seat with Labour in disarray; their one MP - Douglas Carswell - gone independent; and today UKIP AM Mark Reckless leaves the party to join the conservative group in the Welsh Assembly - because UKIP has done it's job.

Are we hearing the distant sound of the UKIP death rattle?

Quite probably. Essentially they were a protest party with one mission. Mission accomplished, what is left for them? I think they will steadily disintegrate and become more and more irrelevant. Like them or not however, they did something quite spectacular in their brief existence.

- interestingly, the thing that the media choose to ignore is that UKIP (while having some right oddities in the membership) have/had a broad range of ethnicity and backgrounds in the membership too. Manifesto content has been routinely misrepresented... eg Managed Migration , stated as end all migration and kill all foreigners! (ok, the last bit was a joke for those who didn't notice) Their Votes to MPs ratio is miles adrift of some Extreme Groups too.... like the Greens and SNP! ( only slightly joking about the last one there though)

Just imagine if Ken Livingstone was UKIP.... the BBC would report his anti sematic comments quite differently.

UKIP have never actually progressed from being a single issue Party...cos maybe they are not. In addition, maybe they were a single personality Party too.

Maybe it is job done.... provided we do leave ...the PM seems to think so.....

I applaud your attempt at trying to cheer yourself up. But you are dreaming.

With Labour in such a disarray and the current UK's voting system metodology its going to be hard for any 'new' party to become established: which is not good for democracy

If they do go under or shrink to irrelevance it will be a big sigh of relief to both Conservative and Labour parties who have both haemmoraghed voters to UKIP over the last decade and who both love the 2 party system as it serves them best. Dont think many UKIP voters were formerly LIbdems given the strong pro Europe position LDs held or still hold so they've little to gain.
I don't see what UKIP under Nuttall can offer electorate over other main parties now the EU issue is nearly settled.

UKIP seemed to be the Party that attracted football hooligans, racists and xenophobes. I sincerely hope that it dies fairly soon. It's only real power base is the number of MEP's it has in the European Parliament, but like turkeys voting for Christmas they have abolished themselves! 😁

Is this an opinion Del or do you have some form evidence to back up your supposition?

Really. In fact I can see a role for UKIP - for the next two years they hold Tory feet to the fire to get a UKIP-flavoured Brexit. After that...?

Ah yes. Paul Nuttall will develop into a politician of great depth and standing and lead UKIP into Wesminster government.

For once I agree with everything you have said, including the sarcasm.
I need to lie down 😀

Just when you think he can't post anything dafter, Delc always proves he can.

I don't think that any other political parties have resorted to fist fights between their own MEP's! Steven Woolfe and Mike Hookem (appropriate name) by the way. How daft is that? 😂

That's true. Other parties just resort to fighting with the general public. Remember 2 jags? (Appropriate name by the way). How daft is that?
