Looking at having a golf break with a few friends next year.

Have never done anything like this and have no idea where to go. Don't want to be much more than a three to four hour drive from Norwich. When i look it up online so many places come up and I have never heard of most of them, the only one I have heard of is the Belfery. It would be nice to play somewhere you have heard of but dose not really matter. There must be some fantastic places to play but what ones.

Would probably look at having two nights and three rounds (Friday and Saturday), not really planned a budget but it would be nice to play more than one course.

Has anyone done anything like this and what good and bad experiences have you had?

Princes would be a great weekend.

Check out golfdaysuk.co.uk for some ideas/inspiration. And I'm sure they would do you a good deal. It's run by jchubs who occasionally comes on the forum and runs the Norfolk, Essex and Surrey tour events.

(PS The company is run by my step brothers so I'm not totally impartial)

You're only a couple of hours from Woodhall Spa, a trip there means you get to play the Hotchkin Course, which is amazing.

I've heard good things about Forest of Arden as well, Belton Woods has three courses and my colleague said that is nice.

I had a good weekend at Celtic Manor, the Montgomerie course was a particular highlight, but that's a long way from Norwich!

If you do Woodhall spa also do Seacroft at Skegness and you can play in three rounds, heathland, parkland and links in the space of 3 days. The hotchkin and the bracken at Woodhall Spa have both been in fantastic condition this year. It's only a 2.45 drive from Norwich.

To be honest Celtic manor is one I thought of but so far away.

Woodhall spa is one I have seen brought up a few times and forest of arden is one i saw on the breaks websites.

It's not so much about the cost, what i really don't want to do is pay a premium for a name and it be a disappointment when there are sure to be a few cracking places about that I have not heard of.

Beau desert is another one i have seen mentioned but not sure where it is and i know nothing about it

It's near Birmingham and its a lovely course, front 9 is a cracker, good clubhouse and food as well.

Woodhall Spa will not be a disappointment, I can almost guarantee that! The Hotchkin course is considered one of the best in the UK, and apparently the 2nd best inland course after Sunningdale.

Well said, it's been in brilliant condition this year. The greens have been so true this year

Had a weekend at the Belfry a few years back and was great fun, played the Brabazon and Derby, Derby wasn't great at that time and wish we'd paid an extra 20 quid to play the PGA nation. Also played at Woburn recently the Duke and Marquess, great courses in my opinion, especially if you like tree lined courses.
