"Golf events management and bespoke golf days".......
sounds like a money-spinner to me......plain and simple....

Can I recommed you get GM behind it IF it's a bona fide event.

Yep. I agree, lets see GM support this IF it is not just free adds and a MONEY EARNER!!!

However maybe we could arrange something similar for this forum only, maybe a weekend or has this been muted before???

Guys i dont wish to break any forum rules and I take your point so i will contact the moderator of the forum to see if they will endorse this event and lets see if we can put a GM team together.

Play well

Colin

Sorry to be a sceptic caddydaddy but I can't help thinking what is in it for you? Why would you wish to arrange such an event, there must be some sort of catch that benefits you or your organisation some how? no?

Can't blame a business for wanting to make a profit.

However - if this event is what it wants to be, and bear in mind this is the first one, then the organisers should really be contacting GM, and not forum members directly through the forum as has happened. If GM have no objection to an open invite on the forum then GM can post the details on here and we could make contact with the organisers directly.

Of course the organisers get something from it, it's a business no doubt, but as with any forum, don't come on here expecting to get a positive response from it's members, when you're trying to flog something. Even if it's dressed up as an internet forum golf competion.

You'd probably think that we're just a bunch of miserable, negative neanderthals, but we do get somewhat hacked off at newbie 'sellers' on here. It's not personal, it's just that there are better ways of handling these things, and doing your research properly.

You are both right of course, I should have gone through the official channels and have now flagged this thread to the moderators for their approval or rejection as they deem fit.

This is as you have seen a commercial venture for myself but this particular event is a sideline of sorts. What i really get from this as well as the experience and exposure is the chance to feed my own golf addiction in a competitive & fun event. Lets face it most of us are never gonna represent our country in the ryder cup but we can pretend this is the same thing cant we :-)

As an active member of golf forums myself i appreciate the comments re newbie sellers and i had hoped to have not come across in this manner.

Could someone point me in the direction of the best person to approach with regards to this event.

Can i assume that there woudld be some interest if the event were sanctioned by the host of this forum?

Regards

Colin

Colin

Thanks for taking the comments in the manner in which they were meant. Not that I'm the local fuzz round here or anything.

The idea of an annual forum competition is sound, and I actually like the idea of it. However for those of us that are either time or cash strapped, or have less than understanding wives, a 2 day event may be a little too much. But I only speak for myself regarding these points.

I'm sure that the price is very good (it appears to be), and I'm sure that the deal given to you by the hotel / club is good because of the 2 day format (which I also like as it gives everyone a chance to have another go etc.

Are the facilities 'wife' friendly, ie pool etc, as I might be able to wing it as a joint break. I'll go and play golf and the wives can amuse themselves until the evening. Would anyone else consider taking their other halfs?

Colin. How would this affect the price?

Good luck.

Very interested to see how this pans out, good idea but we have a hard enough time getting everyone together for 1 day, let alone 2.

Wags are more than likely a must for most of us, me included, no way would she let me have a weekend away with out her after telling her we aint going away this year!

I have a dilema now in that i am still waiting for somebody from the moderator team to contact me but you have asked a question which needs an answer. I have been asked the same thing by another forum and here was my answer to them.

Yes there is a non golfer option however i have a maximum stopover capacity of 51 places and 9 sunday only places. This means that any non golfers could reduce the total amount of playing golfers for the monday however this is not a problem for me i will tweak the competition to reflect how many players we recieve. It is after all just a bit of fun.

I have been given a very good price already for the two nights and they actually class the golf as complimentary so i cannot get the price reduced Therefore unforetunately the price will be the same

Barnham Broom is a superb hotel and one which i think that many of your wives would enjoy. But 2 days is probably a bit too long to float around the hotel so if there are 5 or more non golfers present i will try & lay on a mini bus into Norwich which is supposed to be excellent for shopping on one of the days.

Cheers guys.
