Well not just Uber but anywhere really, but my grief is with them. My unused Uber account was hacked in January and a load of rides round the USA taken totalling £300. I could get through to uber so quickly told me credit card who blocked the payments. Did they tell me to contact Uber? No. Should I have done? Apparently YES! LOng story short. It appears I will have to pay this. I didn't contact Uber to log as fraud. Credit card logged as fraud but Uber provided account details and costs to ner ner pay up scum. Credit card go "oooo yes we can see the details looks ok we'll re-charge the unsuspecting customer".

I'm too late to stop all this now. Despite paint peeling off the walls at mine as I discussed the situation with the fraud team at Lloyd / Halifax. They now cannot do anything as they logged it as fraud but uber say it wasn';t so it isn't. Ner ner. Pay up scum!

So as a warning to all. Never just trust your credit card to sort it. YOU HAVE TO DO IT AS WELL IMMEDIATELY.

PS I'm disputing this with Uber but getting nowhere. Utterly pissed off and THREE HUNDRED NOTES OUT OF POCKET.

PSS. Facebook account is constantly under attack so have shut that down. I will sorting a new e-mal address out as well as that is under attack.

Crazy you must be doing something fundamentally wrong to be getting hacked all the time

Trust me there are bigger fish to fry than you, but they always go for the low hanging fruit.

are you constantly sharing stuff on facebook, stuff that nicks your details, or do you reply to spam emails?

Because nobody should be getting hacked like this

I don't have an Uber account but there must be something in the set up that allows you to change password, change card number, disable account etc etc to protect yourself?

You should off/would off been asked to contact Uber to query with them as this is normal practice now with this type of fraud, I recently had a £7k garden centre purchase appear on my card and they were excellent is resolving it. I would suggest that if your unhappy with the outcome that you raise a complaint, if they are unable to resolve with you then go to the financial ombudsman who will look at it again. I would also pay it in the meantime as you won’t want to have any missed payments or interest accrued if you don’t.

2 questions come to mind...
How often do you clear all your history, cache temp files ,adjust privacy settings on FB and all your social media?
Why wouldn't you contact Uber straight away advising them of the fraud?
To leave it so long gives them an easy get-out.

Have they hacked your forum account as well? As that would explain a lot.

Some really unhelpful people on here. We're not all as
Savy as you. It might seem obvious to do something but to others not so much. I've had cards hacked in the past and a quick call to vthem and they sort it no problem. This time a new card sent and all payments halted. So again I thought it was all sorted. No one told me to contact Uber as well. Glad some of you just take the piss and think you know it all. Let's hope you never get caught out. I'm in the process of shutting all known accounts down now and will sort a new e mail address out. One that hackers will leave alone

I can’t even count on one hand the amount of people I know that have been hacked to the point money is being taken - where as it seems a regular occasion for you

Either you are very unlucky or you have zero online security awareness , I suspect it won’t be long before it happens again.

I asked him this exact same question maybe over a month ago, and then again a couple of weeks ago.

All the people I know who say they've been hacked on Facebook are always the ones sharing nonsense, forwarding videos, links etc etc.

Crazyface, do a bit of googling into malware and spyware and why you shouldn't open up spam emails etc etc

Porn Hub has a lot to answer for, especially when you keep your FB tab open and don’t use incognito, so I’m told ??

Crazyface, my uncle is a Nigerian Prince and he might be able to help you. I’ll get him to email you.

(if you aren’t already in dialogue with him).

Facebook will access your apps unless you tell it not to. It's deep in the privacy settings, but it's there.
I didn't realise it was doing this until my youngest told me about it, and yep it had been accessing all my apps (pay by phone etc inc)

I'm sure he doesn't do any of that - he even gave most of his money to his Nigerian uncle he never knew he had for safe keeping.

Crazyface, I'm sorry you have been a target but generally you have to be careless to be so unlucky. Do yourself a favour and research some articles on how to keep yourself safe online, maybe even consider a paid for password manager like dashlane.

Hopefully you get sorted

I'm not gonna pile on, seems unfair.

As above a password manager like Dashlane or lastpass is secure. Also a VPN will massively help (its a subscription that will make this type of thing much harder)

Also change your passwords and keep them different on every site ( a PW manager will help in the day to day of that)

www.haveibeenpwned.com will tell you where your recorded breaches are.
