Just wondered if anyone has been to any of the London dates so far and what the feedback has been. Me and the Mrs are off to Paris for a weekend next month to see the show and aer really looking forward to. I've been watching them since 1985 i think it was at Milton Keynes Bowl and have seen them every tour since and it's good to be seeing them indoors again on this tour. Please don't turn this into an " I hate Bono" , "bunch of tax avoiders" type thread just keen to get opinions and observations. Cheers AB

I can't stand them, always sounds the same and the forced "give away" of their album on Apple devices sucked! However I think it's super cool you like them and that you have been following them so long and avidly. Hope you have a great time in Paris.

A mate went last night to the 02 and said it they were awesome. I'm a big fan and have seen them 10 times but was gutted to miss out on tickets this time. Bono doesn't do himself any favours with his pseudo politics but U2 are still IMO one of the best Rock acts live and they have stood the test of time
Enjoy you'll have a great night!

I think every band sounds the same to a certain extent. It's just that if you like that sound then you tend not to notice. I'm struggling to think of many/any bands where, after the first couple of albums at most, they don't mostly put out the same stuff in a slightly different way. ;)

As for the OP, enjoy. Never seen them myself as not a huge fan, but they have written a few good songs over the years IMHO, and I hear they put on a show.

Seen them once - PopMart Tour Wembley 22nd August 1997

Boss came to me late afternoon that day and said he had two corporate hospitality tickets for the gig going spare. I took them but we couldn't get a babysitter so I went myself. Old Wembley with hospitality box on the 18yd line at stage end. When asked where we could go outside we were directed to an area right at the front beside the stage. So I got a fantastic view of the band 'up close' - was a great show. Enjoy their music - though only got one album - The Joshua Tree (of course)

Whether people like them or not, or in most cases don't like Bono, they are arguably the best at putting on a show.

Check out the live version of "I will follow" at Boston in 2001 or "Out of Control" at Slane Castle on you tube.

Read a few reviews on this tour and visually it seems outstanding. Back indoors gives them a few more options. Looking forward to it loads. Hoping for a few of my favourites like Bad. The show is being streamed live for HBO in America so no doubt Bono will preach a bit but so be it!!!!

Of to see them at The Hydro in Glasgow on Saturday, I've followed them since hearing Gloria in 1981 when i was 12, ,War and Under a Blood Red Sky were my favourites

Looking at your signature Steve I'm guessing we're roughly the same age. I'm end of 1970!! They were slightly on my radar beforehand but I became a really big fan once Unforgettable Fire came out and then Bad at Live Aid was just exquisite ....... my favourite song and will get played at my funeral !! Have fun on Saturday, from some of the setlist ive seen it seems like a few oldies are getting played like 11 o'clock tick tock, out of control and I will follow. Happy Days !!!!

Out of Control and I Will Follow live are the beans! The Edge at his absolute best on both. Check out the Slane Castle 2001 and Boston 2001 live versions respectively.

Mate of mine saw U2 last Tuesday and he said it was incredible and that at times he was in awe of the sheer quality of performance from the band.

Seen them in Glasgow a few years back and it was superb. Have listened to them for years and think they have recorded some real classics.

Love Sunday Bloody Sunday and With or Without You. I could just keep adding but I wont. :)

I'm got a mate who is only just turned 40 and has most of the albums after the Joshua tree, and none from before. I keep telling him that their best stuff was the Joshua tree or before, so he's really missing out.

The're no Simple minds though..........

All there best stuff was early 80s of which they played Gloria the first time on a tour in 20 years they'd played it. Simple Minds I Travel is a class tune

Was also at Hydro on Saturday, whilst it was a good overall show with. Some clever central effects it was a just a little political for me made worse by the fact I had a clown in front of me who let it known he didn't think it was appropriate to wear a poppy to a U2 concert (only in Glasgow) my fav album ever is Joshua Tree.

Haven't seen them since the early 80s. Liked them then, less so now.

I didn't understand the reaction of people to the free download of a previous album. Easy to ignore or delete if you so desired.
