Reading GM this evening, I was looking at the Rules Quiz and blow me, that bloody Fergus and Jezz are in there again.

Those two boys are a nightmare on the course with their rule-breaking antics. I'm just glad I don't play with them.

I am also horrified that a reputable publication like GM would employ two people with such a casual attitude to the Rules of Golf. :D

I believe Jezz has attended the R&A rules course as well!!

He either didn't pay attention or it's not very good.. :o

If only Jezz's 'rule breaking' was worst golfing trait...
You want to try being in the office with him the day after he's had even a moderately good round
Blow by blow doesn't do the description justice

:D :D but he can tell you how to break all the rules successfully

Sadly I've been on the wrong end of a Jezz bidie blitz when I played with him and RGUK Dave (something like 4 birdies in 5 holes with his partner). Bet that was along day in the GM office the next day. Trouble is he's such a decent fellow you can't begrudge him playing so well too and for a shorty (although with a tad of ballast) he does get it out there a good way and has a great touch.

A very timely post this because in early May we are reshooting our Rules pics up at St Andrews, in association with The R&A, and there is a strong likelihood that from about the July issue onwards it will be two other hapless GM staff members getting everything decidedly wrong every month.

As for my editor's comments, I've played so little golf this year that this is not something they've been subjected too for a very long time in the office. I will seek to remedy that soon, although an elbow problem just as Spring threatened to break through has further put back my full-time return to the fairways!

Is that it? :(

We were all hoping Mike's comment might stir up a bit of a GM slanging match! :D

C'mon, Jezz. Surely, Mike has a flaw or two! ;)

Besides an over-reliance on the greenside flop shot that borders on the foolish, he is the finest editor I've ever had good reason to keep on the right side of in the current job climate.
Just putting aside a nice rosy red apple to pop onto his desk ahead of his arrival in the office tomorrow...

How can you disappoint your listeners like this? While you're awaiting the first of this seasons ventures, polish up by regaling them with all of last season.

at this remove you could perhaps get away with a little journalistic licence.
