Went down to the club this afternoon as a single expecting to knock a couple of balls around, try a few things and generally have a relaxed day in the sun.

Starter Sam asked if I minded joining up with two American visitors and show them the layout. Fine by me I said, most company is better than my own.

Only turned out to be Jim 'Bones' Mackay, Phil Mickelsons' caddy and Joe Skovron, Rickie Fowler's Caddy - gulp.

Managed to get the first one away okay after a 'show us the way Ian' invitation of terror. After that they kindly hit a few dodgey shots themselves and so I could relax.

Failed totally to get any dirt on Phil or Rickie who seem to be good eggs. Both of them seemed to genuinely enjoy playing the West Links and we all managed a few pars to save face occasionally.

One of life's nice surprises.

That's awesome!

Love the 'Show us the way Ian' - if Fowler or Phil win the Scottish you can surely claim it was partly down to you ;)

Well???

Did you win??? :)

Great story, I hope you weren't too nervous to enjoy it.

I think in a lot of ways playing with a couple of caddies is better than playing with pros.

Not the sort of thing that happens round my way. :)

Talking to one of the Rock monkeys who finished his mining career last week. Off to Scotland this week for his annual society bash.
told me that the members insist on playing North Berwick every year. They reckon it's the best course they have played north of Adys wall.
