Oh I agree it's a great achievement to shoot sub-60.
Whether the tour will recognise them as 59's due to pick and place is another subject all together.

if you look at Nel's scores 77-59 that's 18 strokes difference tween yesterday and today. reminds me of my own scores :smirk:

Already said on SSN that it won't be recognised as an official 59 but decent scoring even if it includes pick and place. Still have to get the ball in the hole

a guy at my club shot a -8 60 last year, was pick wipe and place and didn't go up as a course record. which is right, but tough on him!

Why doesn't it count if it's pick and place? It's not like they're dropping the ball out of the rough and into fairways? A ball in the rough is still in the rough, a ball in a bunker is still in a bunker. It isn't they players fault that the course is in a bad condition and they have to have that rule to make it a fair game.

dam right it shouldn't count. ive always said on here that its so much easier playing lift and place. its just easier to make better contact.

Its probably to avoid 'mudballs' where mud stuck to the ball can make it fly in all directions............

I think that fact there have been two 59s in the same round tells you all you need to know about why it shouldn't count.
