Reading one of the sites for today's results and read this:

The big exception today was world number one Rory McIlroy who posted a two over 74 which could have been much worse. Five bogys and a double bogey at the 12th led McIlroy to throw down his club in a fit of despair which came out of a poor provisional shot after finding the creek on the par 5.

I'm gutted for him, but that headline make +7 yet he only ended up +2 for the round........

8 pars.....then a right mixed bag, bit like one of my cards

started a bit up and down too and so it continued bogey on 2, eagle on 4, birdie on 7, -2 after 7.

maybe trying to take Tiger's mantle a bit to litterally by addung petulance to his game, spitting next!?

I saw that throw and it went a fair distance, he didnt throw a provisional club in case he didnt find it

Yesterday i saw several petulent acts but then I guess we all get cross when we're playing for about £m quid!

A £m or just £1:00, makes no different, he was bang out of order for doing it and I think he (and all others) should be fined or lose a shot.

Will never happen but some thing should be done to stop this.

Wonder if Rory will always be a bit of a "streaky" player. He is an agreesive ball striker and his putting seems to be hot and cold.

Nothing wrong with that in my view if it means that when it's his week he'll win by a country mile but I guess he won't necessarilty grind out top 10 finishes and -2 rounds week after week.

I don't like club throwing. Bad manners and a bad example. Creeping into the game a bit more than than it used to although the king of the throwers was of course Tommy "Thunder" Bolt from the 1950's, winner of the 1958 US Open.

Got these from his obituary in the Telegraph

"He had once advised a young Arnold Palmer: "Always throw your clubs ahead of you. That way, you won't waste energy going back to pick them up."

and

"Once asked for his golfing motto, he replied: "Never break your driver and your putter in the same round."

Get a grip, he's human, he wears his heart on his sleeve and it shows the frustration as well as the passion the lad has. Take that away he'll be another nobody. Rory is a cracking kid, great attitude, plays the press well and overall he handles his life in a brilliant and mature was.

Tiger, Stenson or Rory I don't mind the odd helicopter in fact I actually quite enjoy it.

Now stupid tantrums like pulling off your shoe and launching it down the fairway - aka Garcia is plainly pathetic!

totally agree, seems like a one off to me. Not suprised the amount of pressure he is under, top of the world and still in his 20's.

And they can't even get their facts right. 12th was a bogey!

I'm not a condoner of club chucking, but it seemed to help for the next few holes!

Agree, streaky player and putting needs to be going well for a great score. Wonderful to watch though.
