Turnberry proposed changes.

Only changes I've heard about so far is out by the lighthouse, turning that into a par 3 over the sea then a par 5 afterwards. Seems the proposals are being well received and have the backing of the R&A.

Nope, there are loads of changes especially the new 18th tee, a few greens have been moved to new locations as well as the proposed 9th. Just hate Trump in front of Turnberry.

Just had a quick look at the link you posted, very clever the way it's been produced. I like the changes, especially the new par 3's. Any indication when they are planning to start the work?

No, but if he's got anything to do with it, it'll be like Doral, load of dynamite blow the place up, start again and playing golf in a year!

well almost blow it up.

after the Woman's british open this summer and it'll be ready for play by next summer. Looks like an ambitious project!

Should remove the course from the Open rota

The Open should IMO never be held at a course which has Trump in front of it !!

I'm not sure what difference that makes? Yes it's a lot of changes but they are all being done under the auspices of the R&A.

Whether you like the man or not he has a good record of re-vamping courses and facilities.

The whole point of involving the R&A was to ensure that it remains in the Open rota and the changes he is making look good to me

Almost all the changes being made look brilliant, I just can't believe he's insisting on putting the word 'Trump' in front of 'Turnberry'

Exactly mate - can't hold an Open with a course with someone's name in front of it like Trump.

What about royal "st george" and the ailsa was named after lord ailsa . However I think the trump before turnberry does sound stupid

It's a bit worrying tinkering with such a great course, but the changes do look good.

My big hope is that they are able to maintain the spectacular feel of the new holes regardless of which tees you play from. Might not be possible, of course, but it would be a shame to get to the new par 3 ninth excited about the prospect of hitting over the sea only to find the hole ruined by a fairly benign yellow/red tee position. Might not be an easy balance to strike since we can't all make a 200 yard carry over water, but hopefully these holes will not be an entirely different experience for the top pros and us mere mortals.

Changes look very impressive and well thought out. Been some time since played the course but can just about picture the areas where the changes will take place. The R&A must be impressed by the projected outcome.

I think The Open has to be held there because of the brilliance of the course but it's just not going to sound right.

Just doesn't feel right I guess - we know he was desperate to hold a major and feel he has bought one
