Playing here on Friday and looking forward to it as first time.

Has anyone got any tips or hints for it?

Mainly just to experience the course but would like to try and post a good score as well and have an enjoyable day

If the weather stays anything like this you will have a fantastic day. Tips are difficult. Just like any other course really, keep it in play, remember the bunkers gather the ball from quite a surrounding area so be carefull if laying up. Other than that simply enjoy yourself.

Never played it.
But like any other top championship venue if you want to score well, you need to plot your way round the course avoiding the hazards. Have a study of the srokesaver and remember driver off the tee is not always best.

I'm lucky enough to get to play it a couple of times a year through work.

Only tips are to keep it straight, stay out the bunkers and spend half an hour on the putting green (the one by the Links Academy) before you start.

Even on the bad days it's easy to just enjoy the views and the whole experience. My favourite course by a mile.

You lucky bugger. I played the Kintyre in spring and that was a great wee course....so I can only imagine how good Ailsa is. Deffo make good use of the range & putting area/short game before.
The weather looks great this week, but be prepared for the wind to kick up and make you really play. Some long irons or small woods off the tee to ensure it stays in play as the gorse is thick

Good luck to ye mate...it really is special down there,

When playing the 10th, the angle looks far longer to carry than it actually is (off the yellows). If you can carry 220 yards plus, dont aim too far right, be a bit brave, especially if you hit a straight ball or a fade.

If you hit a draw, maybe aim further right.

Fantastic hole,hopefully no splosh noises!!!!

Also the 7th (par 5), be careful of a deep "bombhole" approx 50 yds short and left of the grren on the 2nd shot. Thought Id hit a beauty of a 2nd on this hole only to find it in there, but its not visible from the left side of the fairway, after your drive.

let us know how you get on. Most of all enjoy it. I played it for £95 about 3-4 weeks ago on the after 3.00 twilight rate, but just got it in.

take some old balls with you and when you get to the high tees overlooking the sea, bomb a few out there :D
