My life long friend John was one of the people shot in Tunisia on the beach. He received a round in his tummy close to his belly button. I am getting bits of information from his family but I am out of the country at the moment. I hope and think he will have been flown into Brize Norton today.

John is a big, hard, tough man who would lie in traffic if I asked him too. One of life's true soldiers (not actually) and true friends.

I sat on the beach today in Spain and tried to understand how this must have felt but I could not really.

Get well soon my friend!

Just wanted to share.

Alex

Hard to get your head around how one minute you're relaxing on a beach without a care in the world & then sheer hell.
Hope he makes a full recovery mate.

At least he is one of the Lucky Survivors of the sad story mate ..

Hope he has a full n speedy recovery and goes onto bigger & better things ..

Best wishes to the man

No one deserves to go on holiday and suffer in this outrage. Let's keep our fingers well and truly crossed for him

Struggling get to find the words for such an atrocious cowardly act.

hope your pal gets well soon. My brother went through a rough time whilst working at a coal mine and saw some of his best mates killed. In the coming years to come your pal will need you to be there for him to help him through it.

best wishes to you and john.

Tough to hear. Hope he recovers.

An old classmate of mine wasnt so lucky. Carly was one of those who was tragically killed. Cant tell you how angry I feel about it all.

That's terrible mate, I hope you get nothing but positive news from him soon.
I stayed in Port El Kantoui a couple of years ago at one of the hotels involved. I sat on that very strip of beach where it took place and it was horrible seeing it on the news. I also feel for the locals who were lovely people, they now have no economy to speak of as tourism will be devastated for quite a number of years I imagine.

I hope you will be sharing a few cold beers with him soon

Like you whilst away on hols I've had similar news. Even though there's been arrangements made behind the scenes I've got our employers to guarantee repatriation.

Got news today that things are good. Huge sigh of relief

John has lost a kidney but is not conscious and I am told he is fighting like mad. No visits yet. Thank you for all your comments.

Hobbit, best wishes for your situation!

Wish him all the best. Such a waste of life. Time to stop the boats in the Med now imo, the time for PC shenanigans is over.

Er...What? How will that alter/help things/this horrendous violation? Or even actually related?

Hope John and Hobbit's colleague both have speedy recoveries and repatriation!

Now that the gunman has been killed and his accomplices arrested, might be one of the safest places to go on holiday! :mmm:
