Afternoon all

Is anybody aware of a place where you can go and try just about all different clubs that are on the market?
Next year I'll be looking to replace most clubs in my bag apart from the putter, and I'd love to try them all out without knowing what make was what.

I don't think this place exists but if anybody knows otherwise I'd be interested to hear.

Cheers!

I could just try hitting them without my contacts on.

If you know about clubs you could probably tell pretty easily even from just the address view.

Don't really see why you wouldn't want to know. Seems a little ott.

Everybody is different Garry.

I'd like to know as I know for a fact I have preconceived ideas that certain makes are the best as I like the look of their kit, equipment, etc.
An example is if I knew I had a Cobra/Wilson (nothing wrong with these, just not aesthetically pleasing in my eyes) club in my hand I'd expect not to hit it nice as I don't like the style of the clubs at all.
However, if they were taped up and I knew I hit a club better than all of its competitors then that would do it for me and the above things I've just said would go out of the window as I'd be convinced they are the right and best ones for me.

Oh and also, I know a bit about clubs but not enough to look at address and go "AP2's, MP3's", etc.

You certainly could tell that irons are ping without to much trouble.

Paint jobs give away the woods. Alignment aids too.

Why not just select the clubs you like the look of. Pick from them. A different club won't be that much better than a well fitted club. It's the Indian, not the arrows.

Oh it's definitely the Indian alright, but I do think it's one less thing to have in your head if you know your arrows are the perfect ones.
I've just seen so many clubs I really don't like the look of but the Indians using them to very good effect, so I wouldn't mind an ugly arrow if it helped me.

Personally i couldn't play something i didn't like the look of... i wouldn't feel confident looking down at the club even though i know it played the best for my ability/swing.

It depends. I'm on good terms with the guys at a local range and so can usually hit the latest releases. I've been known to go to a local AG attached to a range, again more so when I knew old the store manager. Other than that I'll look for demo days, or a big retailer like Silvermere. Last place would be my pro shop. Hardly any stock ever

I was similar went I went for a driver fitting out of 6 drivers I hated the look of the cobra, didn't like the silver head, didn't like the orange grip,

A launch monitor session later, between the r11s, yonex something, Callaway black, Nike vrs, ping i20, the amp was a clear winner:

Dispersion tighter
Carry longer
Strike more consistent

It was a no brainer

What ever your hitting book a fitting on sma scope/track man etc and go open minded. If your not prepared to go open minded you may as well order what looks pretty from an online retailer

Good luck in your search for a venue

As an obvious cautionary note, what if the club you hit best doesn't appeal to you aesthetically?

what happens on the course when the wrappers are off and you're standing with a club you don't like the look of, are you likely to hit it as well as you did on the test

That's exactly what I want to do and it would be a no-brainer. Wouldn't bother me at all if the least appealing one was my best club, I'd soon fall in love with it!

I'll certainly be using a Trackman or something similar too. I just want to know I've got the perfect clubs then I can work on the main problem.. me!

Cheers Slab.

I'll soon like them if I know I'm hitting it better than the others and I'll probably instantly fall in love with them so that won't be an issue!
I just know that there are some I'd never give a chance if I went on looks only.
