Not that huge a shock if you follow the game. Trump is well known for being over confident and an under achiever. He was talking about his record against Stephen Maguire (his 2nd round opponent if he had one) before his match against Rory.
Rory is no world beater but a solid pro with a reputation of being very difficult to play against. Trump took him for granted and got beat.

Crikey, snooker. Used to sit and watch most of the World Champs from Sheffield... now, I forgot it was on. Sad really... A bit like golf in that we can all have a knock, but really good players are so skilled it's scary!

I was one of those captivated by Davis v Taylor way back in 1985, even had a cheapo 6x3 table for a spell as a kid but snooker seems to have fallen way down in the conciousness of the general public long ago, not sure why but if you're going to watch one time in the year it'll be the final Sunday or Monday night in Sheffield. Played on full size tables a few times at Uni, even hitting the ball at 12' away is not always easy, never mind potting them, these guys are so good.
